By now, you probably know that my affection for the 1980s runs deep, hence the return of MADBALLS was a welcome one. I reviewed the Series 1 batch of Just Play's 2017 Madballs here on the site, and now there's a chance for YOU to share in the gross-out fun! Join The Toy Insider this Friday, February 10, 2017 from 11am-12pm ET for the #Madballs Twitter Party! Click here to RSVP!
If you happened to catch my latest column at The Toy Insider, then you've already seen a version of that image up-top: a pair of 1974 Dodge Monaco police cars operating on opposite sides of the law. Those 1:64-scale diecast replicas of vehicles from John Landis' 1980 film, The Blues Brothers, are among many produced over the past few years as part of the Greenlight Hollywood series from Greenlight Collectibles. While these have been out there for awhile, the few additional photos that I've shared on social media have piqued some interest, so I'm sharing more right here on the site.
When PJ Masks made its debut on Disney Junior back in the Fall of 2015, everyone was caught off-guard not just by how popular it became, but how quickly it happened. Making up for a lack of PJ Masks merchandise last year, kids with Owlette, Catboy and Gekko on their lists this year have a lot to choose from... provided that the grownups (and Santa) can get their hands on some of 2016's most sought-after toys. Since sharing two PJ Masks features as part of my 2016 Holiday Wish Guide here and here, it's time for one more - the "Grand Finale," if you will. At the top of every PJ Masks fan's wish list are the Toys "R" Us Exclusive action figures, playsets and vehicles by Just Play... including my Toy Insider Parent Pick - the PJ Masks HQ. But that's not all! Just in-time for holiday giving, there's some new PJ Masks clothing available at Kohl's, including some ultra-comfy pajamas for girls and boys alike, and the new Super City Run PJ Masks App!
As both a member of The Toy Insider Parent Advisory Board and an official PJ Masks Ambassador, I'm excited to announce that this Friday, December 9, 2016, I'll be co-hosting the #PJMasksHoliday Twitter Party! From 11am-12pm ET, we'll be talking holiday fun, toys, and all about the hit series from eOne Entertainment that airs daily on Disney Junior. This holiday season, PJ Masks toys from Just Play are available exclusively at Toys "R" Us, and we'll be giving you a chance to win one of five (5) collectible figure sets, while one (1) grand prize winner will receive the highly sought-after PJ Masks Headquarters Playset! RSVP here.
"Dream Big, Princess" - that's a message that little ones have heard often this year as part of Disney's mission to inspire girls and kids around the world to dream big, and to unlock their full potential. Being a modern-day princess brings with it a spirit of adventure that accompanies a passion for friendship and kindness, and there's no better way to seek adventure with friends than to hit the open road... or in this case, sidewalk. The term "horseless carriage" has new meaning with the release of the 24-volt Disney Princess Carriage Ride-on vehicle from Dynacraft - almost unanimously-chosen as one of 2016's Hottest Holiday Toys, and a featured pick in both my 2016 Holiday Wish Guide™ on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine™ and the The Toy Insider's 2016 Hot Holiday Toy Guide!
With so many new toys vying for the attention of kids and parents each and every year, it's always interesting to take note of some true classics that have been able to stand the test of time. 100 years ago, John Lloyd Wright (son of noted architect Frank Lloyd Wright) created what would eventually be known as Lincoln Logs - a toy that I had as a child, and one that The Rock Daughters™ play with now. In fact, I still have my Lincoln Logs from the 70s, and that was the door-opener for what I'd call "The Original STEM Toy." Officially, K'NEX (current maker of Lincoln Logs) calls them "America's National Toy," and that's cool, too - especially since they're once again MADE IN THE USA, and for 2016 they've secured a spot in my annual Holiday Wish Guide™ here on THE ROCK FATHER™ Magazine...
