In the true spirit of what a "teaser" should be, the first official trailer for 2017's live-action POWER RANGERS movie dangles a carrot in front of its audience - barely showing the suits, and not giving us a single look at the mighty 'Zords that the 'Rangers will no doubt pilot. But Lionsgate's new adventure is looking really good. Set to "I Walk the Line" by Halsey (get it on iTunes), it's a moody, very different version of the former MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS...
The annual Power Rangers Morphicon took place this past weekend in Pasadena, California, and out of the fan event came quite a bit of news straight from the creative forces responsible for Saban's Power Rangers franchise.
Fans of the POWER RANGERS franchise young and old have something to look forward to later this month, as the 23rd season of the long-running series becomes POWER RANGERS DINO SUPER CHARGE, debuting Saturday, Jan. 30, at 12 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon in the U.S. Officially announced by Saban Brands & Nickelodeon this morning, the new season will find the Rangers continuing their quest to unite all 10 Energems by tapping into brand-new battle gear, Zords and Megazords to save the universe. Additionally (and perhaps the most exciting element in this house) is that POWER RANGERS DINO SUPER CHARGE will make franchise history by uniting 10 Power Rangers on the same team for the first time ever!
After more than two decades of saving the world from all manner of evildoer or fantastic beast, Saban's POWER RANGERS are closing out 2015 on a high note, and will enter 2016 with the promise of new adventures and tidbits about the all-new live-action movie that will arrive in 2017. Over the years, the POWER RANGERS have been known for embracing the holidays, with special episodes based around Halloween and Christmas, and appearances at events like Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which again this year featured the MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS' Red Ranger working his way through the streets of New York as a massive balloon. With Christmas just two weeks away, THE ROCK FATHER Magazine's 2015 Holiday Wish Guide is presenting to you some ideas for how to enjoy A Very POWER RANGERS Christmas & A DINO CHARGE'd New Year!
Who could've predicted that Netflix - a company known for shipping movies on DVD in little red envelopes - would evolve into a streaming giant and bastion of original content that would proudly carry a flag for resurrecting retired pop culture icons? While it was probably never predicted, that's just what happened, and Netflix has become a home for reimaginings of DANGER MOUSE, FULL HOUSE (FULLER HOUSE), INSPECTOR GADGET and CARE BEARS (CARE BEARS & COUSINS). The latest characters from my youth to become a Netflix Original Series are the POPPLES, brought back by Saban Brands and launched with a five-episode inaugural season. I remember these little creatures fondly - cuddly little munchkins that could roll into a furball, and then "POP!" back open into upright-standing, long-tailed, brightly-colored bear-like creatures. Like all good fruits of the 80s, they once had an animated series and a robust toyline - originally spawned by American Greetings, the same folks that brought forth Strawberry Shortcake and the Care Bears. Three decades later, POPPLES are back, and thanks to Spin Master, they're back in the toy aisle as well - as a Walmart Exclusive for the Holiday Season.
