There's that meme that always floats around - you know the one, with Fry from FUTURAMA, eagerly waving a stack of bills with the caption, "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!" That's sort of where I am with this - a longtime CALL OF DUTY and XBOX loyalist, taking a peek at the press release for CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE, that landed in my inbox from Activision yesterday. Available on November 4, and developed for "next gen" consoles (Xbox One, Playstation 4) and PC, the next installment of the storied CALL OF DUTY franchise looks like nothing that's come before it. And it's got Kevin Spacey playing the lead. Take a look at the reveal trailer below, and then I'll talk some more...

CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTSI'm way behind on my CALL OF DUTY playing. In fact, it's been a bit since I fired up the Xbox 360 (I still need an Xbox One) for some CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTS action, and I need to catch up on all the DLC goodies, like the new personalization and voice packs that hit the game today. Among them, a "1987 Customization Pack" (which is pretty neon), and the first-ever voice packs, which bring in SNOOP DOGG and R. LEE ERMEY to narrate the multiplayer action. Check out some sneak-previews, below...

If you follow me on networks like Instagram and Twitter (and like Wooderson said, "it would be cooler if you did"), then you probably already know that I'm digging MEGA BLOKS' Collectors Series Line of CALL OF DUTY building sets. Unlike most of the other MEGA BLOKS products that I often cover here on The Rock Father, these are geared toward "older" kids... like me. Technically, the CALL OF DUTY collection is recommended for ages 10+, but I'm filing them as sets "For Grownups," and having built three of them already: Mountain Recon; Drone Attack; and Chopper Strike (all sent to me for review) - I'm already looking forward to doing more.

It's pretty appropriate that the new trailer for CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTS comes just prior to Halloween. The reason? It brings with it some monstrous aliens in the new "Extinction" mode - a world that finds the planet under siege from some critters that will bring to mind everything from ALIENS, to STARSHIP TROOPERS. No Zombies here, but it's still looking quite deadly. Family-friendly this one isn't, so use caution if viewing near the kids. It's part of "Daddy Shooting Pixels" here on The Rock Father...

Over the past couple of months, we've reviewed a lot of Mega Bloks here at Rock Father HQ. Seriously, there's even a dedicated tag for Mega Bloks right here on the site. While those sets have been aimed toward the whole family, I just got word today that the folks at MEGA Brands have launched a line of CALL OF DUTY Collector Construction Sets that are geared directly at me toward a slightly older audience. While the initial sets have already begun hitting retail, visitors to the New York Comic-Con this weekend (October 10-13) can stop by the Mega Bloks booth (Crystal Palace, Booth #102) to get a first-look at the buildable CALL OF DUTY Zombies (just in-time for Halloween!), and check out a life-sized CALL OF DUTY vehicle constructed from Mega Bloks.

Call of Duty - Black Ops 2Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (XBOX 360, PS3, Wii)
There's a reason I post those "Daddy Shooting Pixels" posts here on The Rock Father - sometimes Dad needs to fire up the XBOX 360 and blow off a little steam. My battlefield of choice tends to be Activision's CALL OF DUTY series, and while I was a little underhelmed by last years entry (Modern Warfare 3), this year brings CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS 2 - a step into the future (literally), as the action takes place largely in 2025. NOT FOR THE KIDS, this one is for grownups only!
