This Holiday Wish Guide™ special feature is sponsored by Universal Brand Development in collaboration with The Rock Father™.
This summer, the dinosaurs returned, but the park was gone as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arrived in theaters to thrill audiences as the fifth chapter in Universal’s ever-evolving Jurassic Park franchise. Now it’s time to bring the adventure home for the holidays with an incredible assortment of new Jurassic World toys and products, available at Walmart!
The holiday spirit is infectious and there's nothing better than seeing joy brought forth to kids who don't see enough of it. The latest news to roll in comes from Massachusetts, where more than 250 deserving children were able to enjoy a "winter wonderland of play" at a special Play Your Part event hosted by The Toy Foundation (TTF) in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) – Local 103 in Dorchester, MA.
As we approach the 20th Anniversary of LEGO Star Wars in 2019, some new adventures are headed to Disney XD. Zuru Toys is a curious outfit. On one hand, they have fantastic, original lines like their global hit Bunch O Balloons, this year's successful Smashers (now in Series Two) and one of my current Holiday Wish Guide™ picks - Rainbocorns Sequin Surprise (my girls LOVE theirs). But then they tread really close to other popular brands, releasing toys that there's no denying are at least inspired-by some heavy-hitters, perhaps stopping just short of being called something more unsavory... knockoffs. There's 5 Surprise, which as the name implies places five toys inside a round orb, no doubt taking some cues from MGA Entertainment's L.O.L. Surprise line, but packing-in toys akin to what you'd find in a 50¢ vending machine. Then you've got X-Shot, which is a straight-up competitor to Hasbro's NERF line; METAL MACHINES which is a value-priced diecast line that's clearly inspired by Mattel's Hot Wheels; Oosh which is essentially Educational Insights' Floam; you get the idea. Now they're chasing LEGO with MAX BUILD MORE, a new collection of "compatible" building bricks that's just launched as a Walmart exclusive. In a press release, Zuru touts them as "a premium quality, value-priced toy brick line -- compatible with all major toy brick brands and offering unbeatable value for budget with hundreds of high-quality bricks in each set for a fraction of the current price."
Word started circulating earlier this year that LEGO and Blizzard were collaborating on some new sets based on Overwatch, and within the past few weeks the real teasing began. Now comes word that the first LEGO Overwatch set will launch as a Blizzard Store Exclusive. The LEGO® Overwatch Omnic Bastion Building Kit (75987) is a 182-piece entry into a blocky new video game-inspired world. Check this out...
Several years in the making, the 150-acre LEGOLAND New York Resort will open to visitors in 2020, and this week the crew at Merlin Entertainment have unveiled the first look at the eight themed "lands" that will make up the family theme park. At a ceremony in Goshen, New York (60 miles outside of New York City), a 10-foot LEGO model of the entire theme park was shown for the very first time. Crafted from over 135,000 LEGO bricks, the LEGOLAND New York model took 20 Master Model Builders more than 1,300 hours to design and build. See the unveiling in the Facebook Live stream embedded below, along with all the details on the eight lands. The press conference starts at the 10:00 mark in the video...
