It was 2½ years ago that I first mentioned STAR WARS REBELS here on the site - not knowing that Disney XD's animated series would become the real catalyst to spark a true love of STAR WARS in our girls. Addie and Finn (The Rock Daughters™) had seen the Original Trilogy, but it was the slightly younger-skewing adventures of The Ghost Crew that really captured their attention and imagination - a "first step into a larger world," as Obi-Wan Kenobi once said. It was a year ago that we attended a Disney-hosted Premiere screening of STAR WARS REBELS: SPARK OF REBELLION in Chicago, and just three months later the girls would experience their first real "STAR WARS Christmas," their excitement in opening new STAR WARS toys mirroring that of myself as a child way back in the late 70s/early 80s. Their love of REBELS made them pay more attention to the existing films, and with Season Two just weeks away - followed by J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS this December - we've revisited the first season of REBELS thanks to the just-released COMPLETE SEASON ONE Blu-ray, and a few surprises that the folks at Disney had delivered to Rock Father HQ via Coruscant Courier (UPS).

Disney's DESCENDANTS has won over a legion of audiences since it's July debut (read my review here), and as Fall officially begins, school is back in-session at Auradon Prep for the debut of DESCENDANTS: WICKED WORLD, a new series of animated short-form stories premiering after a new episode of JESSIE on Disney Channel, this Friday at approximately 8:25pm ET/PT. The folks at Disney Channel just had a new clip delivered to Rock Father HQ direct from Auradon, and I'm sharing it with your below. It's about cupcakes, so it's appropriate that this is only a taste...

In MARVEL's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, one of the most important elements wasn't what was being seen on-screen, but what was being heard. Chris Pratt's Star-Lord was constantly rockin' his "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" on cassette tape, and as such, new audiences were exposed to some songs that they might not've been familiar with - particularly, kids. When Disney XD's new GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY animated series makes its debut during a special one-hour premiere on September 26 (back-to-back episodes at 9:30 PM ET), audiences will discover that the musical vibe of James Gunn's cinematic world has been kept intact for its cartoon companion. MARVEL has announced an October 16 release date for "Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Mix Vol. 1 (Music from the Animated Television Series)" and the tracklisting is good.
