Last year, I was fortunate to be part of the crew that was invited to Walt Disney Animation Studios to help with the promotion of the Academy Award-winning BIG HERO 6 (full coverage here). After seeing the end credits sequence of the film, which presented the world in a more 2D form, I thought that an animated series in that style would be cool, and today comes news that BIG HERO 6: THE SERIES has become a reality. The series was announced today by Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. Emmy Award-winning producers Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, creators and executive producers of the global hit Disney Channel series KIM POSSIBLE are the executive producers.
I've said this before, but with so many new STAR WARS fans finding themselves immersed in a galaxy far, far away thanks to THE FORCE AWAKENS, if you're not watching STAR WARS REBELS on Disney XD, now is the time to get started - or to catch up on the first season and a half, and jump-in where we're at right now. Things are getting good as the timeline inches closer to what we'll end up seeing in ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY later this year, and in a more familiar form, where the story began in 1977's STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE. In next week's episode, "Shroud of Darkness," Jedi Master Yoda returns, as does Darth Vader. Take a look at the latest preview below, and hit my Facebook for all the latest stills from the new episode!
On February 24th, things are gonna get real interesting on STAR WARS REBELS, as a pair of longtime adversaries find themselves stranded on an icy moon of Geonosis following a failed Imperial ambush of the Rebels. When Agent Kallus is injured during an escape pod crash, it's he and Zeb that must work together to survive the harsh conditions. Could these two actually show compassion for one another? Check out a clip below, then head over to my Facebook page to see a collection of stills from the new episode.
So much STAR WARS news! The latest is that the first-ever LEGO Star Wars short to feature characters from THE FORCE AWAKENS, will premiere MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15 at 8:00 p.m. EST on Disney XD. "Poe to the Rescue" is the first episode in "LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises," a series of all-new animated shorts that take place prior to the First Order's attack on Jakku and tell never-before-told stories including Kylo Ren, Han Solo, Finn, Rey, BB-8, Maz Kanata and more.
The STAR WARS universe is getting bigger again, and this time it's being done brick-by-brick. For the first time LEGO is doing an ongoing series with Disney XD, and it's rooted firmly in a galaxy far, far away. LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures is a comedy adventure series with new characters and old favorites, set to debut on Disney XD this summer.
With Black History Month upon us, a new installment of "Be Inspired" has launched on Disney Channel and Disney XD, this one featuring Cameron Boyce (DESCENDANTS, GAMER'S GUIDE TO PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING) paying tribute to his grandmother, Jo Ann Allen Boyce. In 1956, the first group of African-American teens to integrate into a public school in the South were dubbed "The Clinton 12," and Boyce's grandmother was among them. View the video below...
