Growing up a fan of Charles M. Schulz' beloved PEANUTS series, I've written at length about Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the whole PEANUTS Gang as it relates to being an grownup - my wife and I raising two young daughters of our own. When Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox announced THE PEANUTS MOVIE (which I first wrote about back in October of 2012), what concerned me wasn't that the PEANUTS would be presented in CGI (and in 3D!) for the very first time, but how the filmmakers would approach what would be 65 years of storied history - and if, in 2015, there would be an audience for it. While we've introduced the world of PEANUTS to our children, Charlie Brown and Co. just haven't seemed as prevalent with their little friends - not like it was when we were kids and everyone loved Snoopy. Keeping the PEANUTS tradition alive is what really appealed to me when I joined PEANUTS Worldwide as a Brand Ambassador earlier this year, but like most audiences and critics, I did not get a look at THE PEANUTS MOVIE until it had its premiere screenings this past Sunday. Seeing it with an audience - in a packed theater - was the perfect way to see if Director Steve Martino (HORTON HEARS A WHO!, ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT) had successfully translated the iconic characters into a new realm of filmmaking that would resonate with younger audiences.

PEANUTS Brand AmbassadorIf I could worship at The Altar of The Great Pumpkin, I probably would... right alongside young Linus van Pelt. The story of Linus and his lonely night awaiting the arrival of The Great Pumpkin has been delighting generations in IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN, and for the PEANUTS' 65th Anniversary, there's a lot of ways to bring some of that magic to life in new ways this Halloween (and Harvest) season. From cool items from Oriental Trading to THE PEANUTS MOVIE events at real-life pumpkin patches, today's entry into my annual 31 Days of Halloween here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine is all about Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and Lucy, and the whole PEANUTS gang.

PEANUTS Brand AmbassadorWith Back-to-School Season in full-effect, there's a lot of choices out there in terms of Pop Culture Styling, and this year Hanna Andersson has a full line of Backpacks and Lunch Bags featuring some of our favorite characters. The Hannah & Friends Collection features FROZEN, STAR WARS and showcased here, PEANUTS. For the latter, as a Brand Ambassador for Snoopy and the Peanuts gang, the folks at Hanna Andersson sent one of their new backpacks for my oldest daughter (though my youngest is now eyeing the STAR WARS "Silhouettes" backpack for herself) in the Charlie Brown & Friends Design (also available: Snoopy & Woodstock). While Charles M. Schulz' iconic creations are already a big deal here at Rock Father HQ, you can be sure that they'll be a big deal when 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios release THE PEANUTS MOVIE into theaters on November 6th. Peanuts Brand AmbassadorRecently, I was asked a relatively straightforward question: "Why do you love Snoopy?" Thing is, my affection for Snoopy and the entire PEANUTS gang is a multi-layered affair that dates back to the late 1970s, thus placing me in 2015 as a sort of "keeper of the torch" - tasked with helping new generations know and appreciate the creations of Charles M. Schulz. That all starts here at home with The Rock Daughters™, and that's why I took a gig as a PEANUTS Brand Ambassador this year. With the November release of THE PEANUTS MOVIE fast-approaching (get tix via Fandango), we may be about to turn the corner, but Snoopy and his friends don't seem as prominent as they were for me growing up - and I'd like to change that. I'm old-school, and that means that I get goosebumps when I hear the five-second bumper that indicated "A CBS SPECIAL PRESENTATION," which was usually code for "Charlie Brown's (insert holiday here) is coming on!" Like many, it was the holiday specials that really hooked me, but it was something else that really made an impact on my impressionable young mind... possibly 1977's most important film that wasn't called STAR WARS.

PEANUTSOn November 6, one of my most-anticipated films of the year will fly into theaters like the Red Baron pursuing Snoopy... THE PEANUTS MOVIE. Having been covering this one long before I partnered with PEANUTS Worldwide as an Official Brand Ambassador for Charlie Brown and the gang, the arrival of the film's second full-length trailer has only raised the excitement level here at Rock Father HQ, appropriately-soundtracking this taste of new adventure with a little song called "Baba O'Riley" by THE WHO. It is guaranteed that there are people out there that will complain about this. I am not one of them. The first teaser trailer for FOX Family Entertainment's big-screen PEANUTS Movie (which I first posted about back in 2012) has arrived, and while it might be taking Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the gang into 3D for the first time... it sure feels right. Like PEANUTS should. While this is a true "teaser," the film will be released in 2015, just in-time for the 50th Anniversary of Charles Schulz' iconic characters.
