It's been two years since Demon Hunter's The Extremist (reviewed here) became one of my favorite albums of 2014, a record that I deemed to be perfect across the board. With their next album, Outlive, scheduled for release in the Spring of 2017, the first taste has arrived with "Cold Winter Sun," a new single and lyric video that emerged this past Friday. Check it out...

When I bestowed a perfect 5/5 rating upon DEMON HUNTER's phenomenal new record, EXTREMIST back in March, I pegged the album's closer as a potential new addition to my seasonal playlist for Fall - deeming "Heart of a Graveyard" a "poppy, yet spooky surprise." For Day 15 of 31 Days of Halloween, I'm making good on that, highlighting a song that probably wasn't written with the sinister season in mind, but one that just fits so well. Stream "Heart of a Graveyard" below, and be sure to grab EXTREMIST(Amazon | iTunes) - out now on Solid State Records.

"In seven albums, none of us have ever been this proud of what we created. It feels like we channeled DH from 2018 (minus any out-of-touch old man issues that some bands face later in their career)," states DEMON HUNTER vocalist Ryan Clark when speaking of EXTREMIST. Set for release on March 18, 2014 via Solid State, I checked out an advance stream here at Rock Father HQ this weekend, and while it would be easy to discount Ryan's statement as being simply PR hyperbole... I think he's right.

On November 1, AUGUST BURNS RED will hit the road in support of their latest album, RESCUE & RESTORE (out now on Solid State), with BLESSTHEFALL, DEFEATER, and BEARTOOTH along for the ride. My friends at AEG Live are handling select dates on the tour, and they've teamed up with The Rock Father to get three ABR fans hooked-up with signed, double-sided posters promoting the release of RESCUE & RESTORE. It's a really cool collectible for the die-hard AUGUST BURNS RED fan...

BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE have announced the digital release of a new remix EP entitled CELESTIAL PROGRESSION on April 17 via Solid State Records. The EP features remixes of six songs that were featured on the 2011 release CELESTIAL COMPLETITON, an album I gave a perfect 5/5 rating to when I was still at Kik Axe Music (the review is actually quoted in the EP's press release). Needless to say, I'm excited.
