"I think I was in our bathroom and the wife said 'IT'S POSITIVE!,'" recalls Shaun Glass of THE BLOODLINE and BROKEN HOPE while discussing the moment he realized he'd soon become a father for the very first time. "I just was overwhelmed and couldn't believe it! It hit me the next morning, lying In bed thinking, 'Wow I'm going to be a father,'" he continues, thinking about his earliest days as a "Rock Father," ahead of #RockFathersDay 2014 as he prepares the next moves in his lengthy musical career, with one album by BROKEN HOPE just-released, and another from THE BLOODLINE in production now...

As I approached the iconic marquee in front of The Metro in Chicago last night, I realized something: I hadn't been to a show there in a very long time. During the mid-late 90s (and even into the early 00s), The Metro was a regular haunt for me - a place to check a host of metal, industrial, punk, hardcore and alternative shows. I saw bands like ACUMEN NATION and SMASHING PUMPKINS on that stage, took my wife to see MR. BUNGLE there, and saw countless, no-name local thrashers who would eventually disappear back into the shadows from which they came.

The crew from Century Media just hit my inbox with a message about LIONS LIONS covering the JAY-Z collaboration with JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, "Holy Grail." Thing is, they really only half covered it, because they stripped Z's verses blaming lack of rapping ability in one forum, and use of "the 'N' word" in another. Whatever, VAYDEN did just fine with their cover of "H.A.M." by KANYE WEST and JAY-Z a couple of years ago, and they did it with the lyrics intact. You could also creatively change the offending word, but LIONS LIONS just did a Hova-less version. Check it below, along with some words from the band:

It's 11:30pm and I'm listening to "Ghastly," one of the new songs on OMEN OF DISEASE, the forthcoming album from reformed Chicago Death Metallers BROKEN HOPE. The kids are in bed... so is the wife, so I can have a little old-school evil emitting from my speakers. Truth be told, BH bassist Shaun Glass is a friend - a fellow "Rock Father" himself - and someone I've done work for in the past. If you dig the hard stuff, you, too can be listening to "Ghastly" in a few moments... it's being offered as a FREE DOWNLOAD via Century Media Records!

As a STAR WARS fan that is also a fan of metal, this might just be the best music video that I will see this year. Ahead of the October 1 North American release of their new album, THE DISAPPEARING HUMANS (Century Media/Earache Records), THE MORE I SEE has released the video for "The Eye That Offends." The entire piece was shot on abandoned sets from the iconic first STAR WARS film, deep within the Tunisian Desert of North Africa. Watch it now...
