Rock and Roll Hall of Famers ZZ Top are celebrating their 50th year with a massive North American tour this summer. Kicking off the 50th Anniversary Tour August 16, the real Tres Hombres will play coast to coast and border to border.   Cheap Trick and Southern rock stalwarts Lynyrd Skynyrd will also join the tour as it snakes through the country into late October. 

As a kid growing up as part of the first MTV generation, one of my first elements of exposure to the world of hot rods came courtesy of ZZ TOP's ELIMINATOR and it's sorta-sequel, AFTERBURNER (Hot Rod Space Shuttle!). Both albums and their accompanying videos featured an iconic red 1933 Ford Coupe that would become instantly identifiable with the band. That car was owned by Billy Gibbons, the band's vocalist and guitarist, and this Monday, his love of hot rods is taking center stage when Discovery airs a new pilot called ROCKIN' ROADSTERS at 10pm ET/PT. This August ZZ TOP and JEFF BECK will be hitting the road together for the very first time. Each stop along the tour will bring listeners a full Jeff Beck set, followed by a full ZZ Top set, with a finale that joins the English guitarist with the Texas rockers for an explosive collaboration.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star just hit The Rock Father with news that they've released yet another collection of popular songs in lullaby form, this one being LULLABY VERSIONS OF SOUTHERN ROCK. The new collection hit iTunes this week and features 'lush instrumental versions' of songs made famouse by the likes of ZZ Top, Hank Williams Jr., Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and more.
