The vinyl resurgence of the past decade has been an interesting thing to watch - particularly as my wife and I raise two daughters in an age where music is known for coming from a flat piece of glass and circuits in everyone's pocket. I grew up with vinyl, and as a kid it was played from a turntable housed inside a wooden stereo console that was probably six feet long and weighed a ton - it wasn't just audio equipment, it was furniture. Over the years, I would own my own turntables, from low-end Kmart style (actually purchased at Kmart) all-in-ones to high-end audiophile components and some of the more recent USB-connected models. But, like many, I parted ways with much of my vinyl collection somewhere in the mid-90s, a move that I now regret as our girls really like listening to records with us. In recent years, the biggest challenge has been finding turntables that legitimately have the right balance between quality, sound, price and size. Having owned a lot of turntables, I've been very surprised at how much I love the new Rock 'N' Rolla UFO turntable, one of which was recently sent to us for review.

It's been one year since PRODUCT OF HATE (co-managed by The Rock Father™) released their Napalm Records debut album, Buried in Violence (iTunes | Amazon). In the time since, the band has seen their audience grow, and their extended family on Facebook is a big part of that. When they signed their deal, the band had just 2,000 likes on the service, a number that was at 5,000 the week of the album release. In the year since, PRODUCT OF HATE has seen that number swell, hitting 50,000 fans this week - a number that continues to grow. As a band in 2017, the best thing that can happen is that listeners tell their friends. It's old-school word-of-mouth in the digital age, and as a "thank you," PRODUCT OF HATE and The Rock Father™ are giving you a shot at winning a signed, "Tour Edition" White Vinyl LP copy of Buried in Violence

It's no secret that we love Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the whole PEANUTS Gang here at Rock Father HQ. Much of the appeal for me has been the music of the Vince Guaraldi Trio, with Guaraldi's music fast-becoming just as iconic as the creations of Charles M. Schulz, and for many (likely myself included), a first introduction to jazz. Last year, Concord Music Group released PEANUTS GREATEST HITS as a remastered collection of some of the most memorable compositions, and now for 2016 it's been re-issued for the first-time ever as a Vinyl LP Picture Disc. This new record features Charlie Brown's face on Side A, with Lucy van Pelt adorning Side B, available now under the Fantasy Records imprint. Would you like to win a copy? THE ROCK FATHER Magazine has your shot!
