The folks behind Sock Puppet Parody are back, and this time they're keeping the Texas vibe alive with a send-up of PANTERA's "Walk." Performed by HAMPTERA (of "Folding Hostile" fame), this one's got the seal of approval from PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul himself! Check out the new clip below, and watch for Vinnie (currently busy with HELLYEAH) at the end. Bonus Fact: Back in the early 90s, my friends and I used to call Dime & Vinnie's house to hear their "PANTERA Hotline!" answering machine messages. Sometimes we'd leave a message as a goof.

Animator Joey Siler has been making waves in the rock world for a bit with viral clips like his COOKING HOSTILE WITH PHIL ANSELMO series. Through his parodies, Siler has featured the likes of PANTERA, SLAYER, OZZY OSBOURNE, ANTHRAX, BUCKETHEAD, TESTAMENT and more... in cartoon form, and usually cooking. Now he's going after the ingredients, with SECRET METAL MYSTERIES: KORN and DEFTONES. What does Korn have to do with Corn? Watch the video below... popcorn's ready!

Between toys and music - the stuff my girls and I are checking out now, along with all the retro goodness that I tend to get into, a lot of weird stuff crosses our paths and enters our space. Tonight I've got a sonic oddity to share, one that takes the 1980s MY BUDDY dolls (the inspiration for "Chucky" of the CHILD'S PLAY movies) and the accompanying KID SISTER that Playskool made, and gives their famous theme a "metal" spin. Check that out below, along with similar treatment given to classic commercials for JUICY FRUIT and SKIP-IT, each made by Shaun Callaghan of GIVE ZOMBIES THE VOTE. It reminds me of LESS THAN JAKE's TV EP

It's almost 3am here at Rock Father Mobile HQ, which tonight is a hotel room in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania - and while the girls are all asleep behind me, I can't seem to rest tonight, so I'm continuing to catch up. Back on Monday, my friend Rus posted this video on my Facebook page along with a note that it's in my "sweet spot" - and he's right... BATMAN + METAL = "BATMETAL." What we have here is a viral clip that's amassed nearly 800K views by featuring original animation of BATMAN, RED HOOD, ROBIN and NIGHTWING performing a DETHKLOK song called "Face Fisted" from METALOCALYPSE as the CHILDREN OF BATMAN (think CHILDREN OF BODOM). I can dig it, can you?

For STAR WARS DAY 2014, I'm featuring a handful of STAR WARS-inspired music here on THE ROCK FATHER for your enjoyment and consumption. If you've turned on a radio, television, or happen to have seen DESPICABLE ME 2, then you're probably familiar with "Happy," the song performed by PHARRELL WILLIAMS, that's become a smash hit over the past few months. "Happy" may be bigger than the Arby's hat that he wore to the Grammys, or the other one that he wore while performing on the Academy Awards earlier this month. So bring in an element of a "galaxy far, far away," and you've got the "HAPPY (We Are From Tatooine)" video, a viral clip put together by STAR WARS fans in Tunisia, location of many familiar locations that STAR WARS fans will recognize as Tatooine. Darth Vader, Boba Fett, C-3PO, R2-D2 and many others can be seen getting "Happy" in the video below.
