I've mentioned it before - the first big concert I ever attended was The Oak Ridge Boys at the Star Plaza Theatre in Merriville, Indiana way back when it was still the Holiday Star Theatre. That said, I've continued enjoying their music for the past 40 years, and now comes news that the Country Music Hall of Fame members and five-time GRAMMY winners have recorded a new album with producer Dave Cobb (Shooter Jennings, Zac Brown Band), set for release in the first quarter of 2018. The as-yet-untitled album is the second that the group has worked on with Cobb, who also produced The Boys Are Back in 2009.
Kid Rock keeps riding that line between Detroit rock and Nashville twang, and on his latest single he's leaning back to that country side. “Tennessee Mountain Top” hits country radio beginning October 2, but the song arrived on digital platforms for sale and streaming today. Check it out in the player below and see what you think - personally, I'm digging it.
As first revealed last night on THE TONIGHT SHOW Starring Jimmy Fallon, five-time GRAMMY winner Shania Twain has announced that she will hit the road next year in support of her new album, NOW. These dates mark Shania's first tour since "Rock This Country" back in 2015. Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off May 3rd in Tacoma, WA and will run through the rest of the summer, culminating in Las Vegas on August 4th at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
After releasing their latest single, "California," this spring, country duo Big & Rich have announced the release of their upcoming album Did It For The Party, slated for September 15. Big & Rich fans (dubbed the “Freak Parade”) can pre-order the album now on Apple Music / iTunes, Amazon and Google Play, where they will receive an instant download of the new single “California,” along with the title track, “Did It For The Party.” The album will also be promoted at Walmart® stores nationwide through a newly announced partnership with TWIX®.
It's generally no secret around these parts that I'm not a football fan, but I am a Hank Jr. fan. That said, even though the event wasn't my bag, I was bummed to hear that his iconic theme song was nixed from Monday Night Football some years back. Now, confirming some rumors that were swirling, news just hit Rock Father HQ that ESPN’s Monday Night Football will feature the return of its iconic anthem this fall when Hank Williams Jr. kicks off the weekly Monday primetime game by asking NFL fans: “Are You Ready for Some Football?” Every Monday night during the 2017 NFL season, Williams will perform his hit song “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Monday Night” with Florida Georgia Line and Jason Derulo.
