We received the Disney•Pixar Coco x Córdoba Mini, a travel-size nylon string guitar that perfectly fits younger players. At first, I was considering another guitar from the Coco collection - the 7/8 scale acoustic (slightly smaller than standard) for our oldest daughter, Addie (age 8), but the Mini is absolutely perfect for this age.
Crafted with a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, the guitar is aesthetically pleasing with a beautiful laser-etched design inspired by Dia de los Muertos, and recalling both Miguel's family history and the guitars featured throughout the film. Set in standard E tuning, the guitar is surprisingly clear, with a bright and full tone. Easy and comfortable to play, the included nylon Savarez 500CJ strings are a bit more forgiving for young hands when compared to steel.
The Disney•Pixar Coco x Córdoba Mini comes with a Córdoba gig bag and guitar strap, plus an owners manual and allen wrench for truss rod adjustment. Also available in Mahogany. As of right now, these are selling for just $129.99 at Guitar Center, which is an absolutely fantastic deal.
With a brand-new player in our house, my wife and I had been considering lessons for awhile, and Addie is now enrolled! Guitar Center Lessons also make a great gift, and not just for novice players. Their standardized curriculum is meant to be fun and challenging for both beginners and serious musicians, and there's some real support available for anyone that wishes to learn to play. While guitar is our focus, your local Guitar Center offers Instruction and Workshops for guitar, bass, keys, vocals, drums, band & orchestra, recording software and more. Check out their website for full details and a location near you.
A Disney•Pixar Coco x Córdoba Guitar paired with Guitar Center Lessons is a holiday gift that can help foster a lifetime of musical memories.
Now how about a Coco guitar that you probably can't buy? Taking things to a whole different level of awesome, the Coco x Córdoba Replica is a limited-edition of just 20 made worldwide - a real-world version of Ernesto de la Cruz’s whimsical Mexican-inspired guitar.
