It's always a special thrill when one of my favorite artists announces a new record - and that news arrives in my inbox completely unexpected. Such is the case with BRIAN SETZER, one of the greatest living guitarists, and one of my top ten favorite artists of all-time. On August 12, Surfdog Records will release ROCKABILLY RIOT: ALL ORIGINAL, a brand-new collection of straight-up rockabilly tunes from Setzer, who's backed by Mark Winchester (bass), Kevin McKendree (piano) and Noah Levy (drums). Recorded in Nashville, the album was produced by Peter Collins (who previously worked on Setzer's VAVOOM! and THE DIRTY BOOGIE).

On June 10, THE WHO will release QUADROPHENIA: LIVE IN LONDON, a concert captured in High Definition last summer, at the end of their 40th Anniversary Tour that celebrated the original album's 1973 release by erforming the full album front-to-back along with a collection of hits and fan favorites. Check out a preview and all the specs below!

She's one of India's biggest stars, a model for Guess, an actress and a growing pop artist. Today, Priyanka Chopra has released the music video for her cover of Bonnie Raitt's 1991 hit, "I Can't Make You Love Me," and her co-star for the clip is a familiar face to television fans. Actor Milo Ventimiglia (MOB CITY, HEROES, CHOSEN) appears as her would-be lover. Check it out below...

On May 13, one of my favorite bands (in my Top 4 of all-time, actually) will release their newest album, when PRONG unleashes RUINING LIVES. Today comes the first lyric video from the record, "Turnover," which can be viewed below.  RUINING LIVES will be released as a limited Digipak version that includes 1 bonus track and a poster, as a double gatefold colored vinyl version incl. 1 bonus track and the CD in cardboard sleeve, and as a standard CD version and download.

Last August, I mentioned that CRAZYTOWN was back into the ring, the latest in a growing number of bands from the late '90s/early '00s that have been making their presence known once more. Now, with a new album looming, the band has announced a handful of U.S. dates on the West Coast, followed by a run of European dates that includes stops at some high-profile festivals like DOWNLOAD and ROCK AM RING. Pop MarktHeard any rumors today? The mill is churning that AC/DC is breaking up due to Malcolm Young's health, causing countless sites to report on their demise prior to a single word from the band. The rumors are not true, and the band "is not on the cusp of retirement," according to an article published on Billboard a short while ago. What is true, is that an email just arrived here at Rock Father HQ from MyPlayDirect, announcing that in perfect timing to go with all this hoopla - AC/DC - BACKTRACKS (DELUXE COLLECTORS EDITION) has been put on-sale at Pop Market for just 18 hours (unless they sell-out earlier). While I can't tell you the price here on THE ROCK FATHER, I can confirm that it's less than 50% of it's $199.99 list. Here's the details...

Covered: LOCAL H performs "Team" by LORDE

Written by

Like most of you, I have not seen LOCAL H with new drummer, Ryan Harding. Well, until today. A video has surfaced in which LOCAL H performs a stellar cover of "Team," the recent hit by LORDE. It's a fantastic rendition that manages to infuse the low-key track with the kind of energy that LOCAL H first emerged with in the mid-90s. Check it out below...

The Dave Brockie FoundationThe surviving members of GWAR and Slave Pit, Inc., have issued a video message that formally announces the creation of a charity fund in the name of Dave Brockie (Oderus Urungus), who died unexpectedly last month.

See the video, and read about The Dave Brockie Foundation and it's mission, below.

Pop MarketPop Market, "the ultimate shopping destination for music fans and collectors," has been serving up some stellar daily deals on rare vinyl of late, and today they've got something special on the eve of NIRVANA's induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The NIRVANA - NEVERMIND Super Deluxe Box Set (which I myself should get) featured 4CDs, 1 DVD, plus a book and poster. It includes the remastered album, original mixes, all the B-sides, and LIVE AT THE PARAMOUNT. It's on-sale now, but there's just about 13 hours left as of this writing, to take advantage of a great deal.

It's been nearly three years since I reviewed AN ACHE FOR THE DISTANCE, the last full-length album by Chicago's THE ATLAS MOTH. On June 10, Profound Lore will release their follow-up, when THE OLD BELIEVER hits the streets.
