Recently, I was asked a relatively straightforward question: "Why do you love Snoopy?" Thing is, my affection for Snoopy and the entire PEANUTS gang is a multi-layered affair that dates back to the late 1970s, thus placing me in 2015 as a sort of "keeper of the torch" - tasked with helping new generations know and appreciate the creations of Charles M. Schulz. That all starts here at home with The Rock Daughters™, and that's why I took a gig as a PEANUTS Brand Ambassador this year. With the November release of THE PEANUTS MOVIE fast-approaching (get tix via Fandango), we may be about to turn the corner, but Snoopy and his friends don't seem as prominent as they were for me growing up - and I'd like to change that. I'm old-school, and that means that I get goosebumps when I hear the five-second bumper that indicated "A CBS SPECIAL PRESENTATION," which was usually code for "Charlie Brown's (insert holiday here) is coming on!" Like many, it was the holiday specials that really hooked me, but it was something else that really made an impact on my impressionable young mind... possibly 1977's most important film that wasn't called STAR WARS.

This November, Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox will release one of this Fall's most-anticipated films, when THE PEANUTS MOVIE arrives in theaters. With the movie just a few months off, that means that some cool tie-in merch will be headed for stores, and from the folks at Just Play Toys comes one of the coolest - HAPPY DANCE SNOOPY, which will begin hitting Target stores in August.  So how would you like to win one before you can even buy one? On November 6, one of my most-anticipated films of the year will fly into theaters like the Red Baron pursuing Snoopy... THE PEANUTS MOVIE. Having been covering this one long before I partnered with PEANUTS Worldwide as an Official Brand Ambassador for Charlie Brown and the gang, the arrival of the film's second full-length trailer has only raised the excitement level here at Rock Father HQ, appropriately-soundtracking this taste of new adventure with a little song called "Baba O'Riley" by THE WHO. It's a huge year for PEANUTS, as the iconic characters from Charles M. Schulz celebrate their 65th anniversary - a year that will be capped-off by the release of  the first-ever 3D CGI Peanuts feature film, THE PEANUTS MOVIE, from Blue Sky Studios and 20^th Century Fox. To get that PEANUTS vibe rolling for the summer, the folks at Target commissioned their design team to create a full line of exclusive Summertime PEANUTS products - over 100 items in all! "Spring is here again..." Those words, from NIRVANA's "In Bloom" are the perfect stage-setters for this week, as we close the books on Easter and welcome to start of Major League Baseball season here in the U.S. The tulips are finally starting to emerge... the kids are playing outside... it's a great time all around. This past weekend, Valentine's Day got an early start with a very special PEANUTS-themed party featuring SNOOPY and his sister BELLE. Co-hosted by "the Little Red-Haired Girl" herself—aka Francesca Capaldi (DOG WITH A BLOG), the 10-year-old actress who plays the character in this Fall's THE PEANUTS MOVIE - the party took place at the Park Hyatt in Carlsbad, California, where Capaldi and friends tried on the latest Snoopy and his Sister Belle fashions from Target, danced to DJ-provided tunes, and decorated cupcakes with decorations from Cakes.com. Of course, they also enjoyed watching the classic Peanuts special, BE MY VALENTINE, CHARLIE BROWN, set to air on ABC alongside A CHARLIE BROWN VALENTINE on February 13^th at 8pmEST/7pmCT. While my girls and I weren't able to make the party in-person (2,000 miles would've been a long drive), Pastry Chef Franck Riffaud of the Park Hyatt Aviara was kind enough to share his recipe for chocolate cake (or cupcakes) so that we could play along at home... and so YOU can as well!
