It's almost 3am here at Rock Father Mobile HQ, which tonight is a hotel room in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania - and while the girls are all asleep behind me, I can't seem to rest tonight, so I'm continuing to catch up. Back on Monday, my friend Rus posted this video on my Facebook page along with a note that it's in my "sweet spot" - and he's right... BATMAN + METAL = "BATMETAL." What we have here is a viral clip that's amassed nearly 800K views by featuring original animation of BATMAN, RED HOOD, ROBIN and NIGHTWING performing a DETHKLOK song called "Face Fisted" from METALOCALYPSE as the CHILDREN OF BATMAN (think CHILDREN OF BODOM). I can dig it, can you?

BvSAs a kid who grew up on SUPERMAN as his #1 hero (though eventually, BATMAN took over), I loved Zack Snyder's MAN OF STEEL. Now, with BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE on the way, we're about to see SUPERMAN team-up with a new BATMAN, along with WONDER WOMAN and potentially a whole lot of other heroes as the JUSTICE LEAGUE takes shape. With filming taking place in Michigan right now, it's likely the "spy" pics are coming, and with that, Warner Bros. has released the first image of Henry Cavill as SUPERMAN from the new film. The costume has some tweaks, too - making it a lot closer to the comic books, with little flourishes and details making it different... yet the same. See the photo below, which was provided via Warner Bros. Entertainment. Credit goes out to Clay Enos for the shot (and click for Super high-res)...

WBCP125Being as into Pop Culture as I am, I love when Licensing Expo rolls around - the annual peek at what the biggest media powerhouses are rolling out to offer companies for new and innovative products in the year ahead. When I mention "powerhouses," few are as big as Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), and this year they're rolling into Licensing Expo 2014 with the big guns out - celebrating the 75th Anniversaries of BATMAN and THE WIZARD OF OZ, the success of GODZILLA, the finale to THE HOBBIT Trilogy, and favorites like SCOOBY-DOO, LOONEY TUNES, TOM AND JERRY, HARRY POTTER, SUPERNATURAL and more. Here's a full taste of what's on-deck from WBCP...

It's official - filming has begun in the Metro Detroit area on Warner Bros. Pictures' much-anticipated MAN OF STEEL follow-up, BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. Directed by Zack Snyder, BvS stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. More from the official announcement can be found below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

First-Look: Ben Affleck as BATMAN...

BATMAN VS SUPERMANAs first teased yesterday when Director Zack Synder promised to "pull the tarp," today comes not only a look at the new Batmobile for his upcoming MAN OF STEEL sequel (BATMAN Vs. SUPERMAN - until the title changes), but the first-look at Ben Affleck in the all-new Batsuit. Quite simply, I'm digging it. This is the closest thing we've ever seen to a true, comic book-style Batman that carries a lot of that DARK KNIGHT RETURNS vibe. Take a peek...

I just had a major flashback to 2004. It was a decade ago(!), that I and a group of close friends, then-known as a ragtag band of independent troublemakers filmmakers that used the streets of Waukegan, Illinois as our personal backlot, paid a visit to the set of Christopher Nolan's BATMAN BEGINS. It was then that they'd come to film part of the epic "Chase to the Batcave" scene on the never-completed Amstutz Expressway - the famed "road to nowhere" used as a filming location for THE BLUES BROTHERS, GROUNDHOG DAY, and countless other film and television projects. Armed with a MiniDV camera, we provided (via IGN) the Internet one of it's first-looks at The Tumblr, the functional, real-world Batmobile (though never officially called that) that would feature so heavily in Nolan's DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY. But that was 2004, and here we are again for 2014...
