Review: NERF Zombie Strike FUSEFIRE Blaster

You could say that I know a thing or two about Zombies. While my first exposure to the undead hordes came courtesy of John Landis and his iconic longform video, MICHAEL JACKSON's THRILLER, it's sort of unfortunate that my daughters' first exposure came via a phone commercial for Sprint. Thus is the new age, and it expedited the process of Daddy having to throw down a little knowledge about what exactly these creepy folks are... and how to take care of them. It's hard to be tactful when explaining the Zombie elimination process to children, as I tend to get a little messy, and violent. But, in the interest of being both tactful and tactical, something arrived courtesy of my friends at Hasbro that I had to give a shot... or five. The new NERF Zombie Strike FUSEFIRE Blaster.

125vortexMy first experience with the NERF Vortex Revonix360 Blaster came on September 17, when I joined seven other Chicago-area Parent Bloggers at a Hasbro Hot Toys Lunch. Grownups playing with toys at a nice restaurant (312 Chicago) is always a good thing, but when when of these showed up here at Rock Father HQ last month, all bets were off. Recommended for Ages 8+, this bad boy holds 30 lightweight foam discs that can be fired up to 65' away! And, you can do trick shots like bouncing them off of things. It's surprisingly accurate, and the only blaster that I'm including in my 2013 Holiday Gift Guide. Lets just say it could get me into some trouble...

nerfbow125Recommended for Ages 6+, the NERF N-Strike Blazin' Bow Blaster will appeal to boys and girls of all ages (yes, grownups, too) for safe archery-style fun inside and out. I first got to play with this at the #HasbroHotToys lunch in Chicago, and we've since been rockin' one here at Rock Father HQ. While Mommy isn't a fan of seeing it used indoors, the NERF N-Strike Blazin' Bow Blaster really hit's the target - especially with kids already enthralled with characters like Merida from BRAVE, or THE HUNGER GAMES series.

Fall is here, and for most of America, that means it's Football Season. When I say "most of America," what I really mean is "Not here at Rock Father HQ." Truth is, I don't like Football... specifically, the game.

It's been a very long time since I've had the chance to play with a "water blaster," so when the folks at NERF asked if I'd be up for checking out a new Super Soaker here at Rock Father HQ, I immediately accepted. What soon arrived was the new NERF ARCTIC SHOCK WATER BLASTER - a powerful soaker with the ability to put the freeze into full effect. And I became the target.

The American International Toy Fair will begin this weekend in New York, and while The Rock Father won't be there in-person (maybe next year), the news continues rolling in here at Rock Father HQ. HASBRO will be rolling out a ton of new toys this weekend, and this morning I've got a preview of new offerings for kids of all-ages. With iconic brands like TRANSFORMERS, MY LITTLE PONY, STAR WARS, G.I. JOE, PLAY-DOH, FURBY, BABY ALIVE, TWISTER, and ANGRY BIRDS represented, there's a little something for everyone. Check out some highlights below.
