If I could worship at The Altar of The Great Pumpkin, I probably would... right alongside young Linus van Pelt. The story of Linus and his lonely night awaiting the arrival of The Great Pumpkin has been delighting generations in IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN, and for the PEANUTS' 65th Anniversary, there's a lot of ways to bring some of that magic to life in new ways this Halloween (and Harvest) season. From cool items from Oriental Trading to THE PEANUTS MOVIE events at real-life pumpkin patches, today's entry into my annual 31 Days of Halloween here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine is all about Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and Lucy, and the whole PEANUTS gang.
When it comes to being fashionable, Snoopy's always been a pretty dapper guy. As "Joe Cool," he certainly captured that rugged leading man type of vibe - but the beagle has been known to rock a tux, or the runway, from time to time. What a lot of people don't know is that Snoopy's sister, Belle, is a world-famous fashionista, and that together their "Snoopy and Belle in Fashion" line has been a Global hit that's led to a touring fashion show with some of the World's top designers. As a PEANUTS Worldwide Brand Ambassador, I'm pleased to give readers a shot at winning a stylish prize pack that includes a ladies t-shirt (size medium only), tote bag and makeup bag. Ready for your chance?
I can remember a few occasions as a kid where I participated with Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF back in the 80s, but truth be told, I haven't seen those iconic orange boxes hitting the streets here locally in quite awhile. Hopefully, that will change this year, as the iconic Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign is celebrating its 65th anniversary by joining forces with another American classic: PEANUTS, which also turns 65 this Fall. Blue Sky Studios' THE PEANUTS MOVIE will team up with Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF to encourage children to raise funds for UNICEF’s lifesaving programs. The original Kids Helping Kids® campaign—is one of the longest-running youth volunteer initiatives in America that encourages children to go door-to-door on Halloween and collect coins in support of UNICEF’s work. Since 1950, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has raised more than $175 million for UNICEF to provide children around the world with medicine, nutrition, clean water, emergency relief and education.
Before the word "Snoop" went hand-in-hand with the D-O Double-G, there was simply Snoopy - a loveable beagle created by Charles M. Schulz way back in 1950. While we knew the first year that the dog hit the scene, it wasn't until the late 1960s that we knew that Snoopy's birthday was actually August 10th. While he'd be 65 years old in human years, Snoopy turns 273 today (according to the Dog Years Converter) and he looks absolutely fabulous as we look forward to the release of THE PEANUTS MOVIE from 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios on November 6th. With celebrations taking place around the 'net, here's a few of the best...
With Back-to-School Season in full-effect, there's a lot of choices out there in terms of Pop Culture Styling, and this year Hanna Andersson has a full line of Backpacks and Lunch Bags featuring some of our favorite characters. The Hannah & Friends Collection features FROZEN, STAR WARS and showcased here, PEANUTS. For the latter, as a Brand Ambassador for Snoopy and the Peanuts gang, the folks at Hanna Andersson sent one of their new backpacks for my oldest daughter (though my youngest is now eyeing the STAR WARS "Silhouettes" backpack for herself) in the Charlie Brown & Friends Design (also available: Snoopy & Woodstock). While Charles M. Schulz' iconic creations are already a big deal here at Rock Father HQ, you can be sure that they'll be a big deal when 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios release THE PEANUTS MOVIE into theaters on November 6th. Get ahead of the game now!
With Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox releasing THE PEANUTS MOVIE on November 6, generations of fans both old and new are discovering the adventures of a boy named Charlie Brown. Those adventures with Snoopy, Linus and Lucy, Pig Pen, Peppermint Patty, Schroeder, The Little Red-Haired Girl and more are timeless, and I'm in the crowd that holds sincere hope that Steve Martino will have crafted a worthy companion when his film arrives in theaters. For THE PEANUTS MOVIE, it's composer Christophe Beck (ANT-MAN, FROZEN) that has some big shoes to fill - those once occupied by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. It was Guaraldi's music that became just as iconic as the creations of Charles M. Schulz, and for many (likely myself included), a first introduction to jazz. On July 31, Concord Music Group will release a new collection under the Fantasy label - PEANUTS GREATEST HITS. Featuring a dozen classic songs and all-new liner notes by Derrick Bang (author of the career-spanning book, VINCE GUARALDI AT THE PIANO), Concord Music Group and THE ROCK FATHER Magazine are pleased to give readers a chance at winning one of five (5) copies of the album on CD!
