#GiftingAudio with the JBL Charge 2 Bluetooth Speaker

Holiday 2014If you're reading this, then it's probably no surprise to you that I'm a little bit more than a casual fan of these festive weeks of the year. Instead of getting mad and putting on the Grumpy Cat face when the Holiday Music starts rolling out in October each year, I tend to get mad at the people who get mad about the music. After all, despite what those stock articles that sites like HuffPo seemingly break out each year like clockwork say, "Christmas Creep" as they call it is not a new thing (ELVIS' first Christmas album was released on October 15, 1957), and I say "bring it on!" Even as I write this, it's mid-November and not only is our tree up, but all of Rock Father HQ has been decorated inside and out, right down to my girls' Step2 playhouse. It almost goes without saying that my #Griswolding has been soundtracked, and this year it's gotten a big boost with the JBL Charge 2 Bluetooth Speaker - one of the finest portable speakers that I've ever had the pleasure of owning (and I've had a few). But, this is the Season of Giving, and #GiftingAudio is a can't-lose affair for those special people on your list. Not only does JBL have a great Gift Guide of their own, they've teamed-up with THE ROCK FATHER and some other great sites for a Holiday Wish Guide Giveaway in which thirty (yes, 30!) winners will receive some fantastic speakers just-in time for the Holiday Season.

As a kid that grew up watching the adventures of Bo and Luke Duke on THE DUKES OF HAZZARD, I would've never imagined that nearly four decades later I'd still be talking about the Duke boys or their real-life alter-egos, namely John Schneider & Tom Wopat . I was really into the Dukes - so much that I had a full-on Dukes birthday party at one point (the cake had the General Lee on it) and would view my Coleco Power Cycle as a prized possession, right alongside those little 3 3/4" Mego action figures. All these years later, and I'm still a Dukes fan - but also a fan of what Schneider and Wopat have accomplished beyond Hazzard County. From music and film to the Broadway stage, these guys have done it all, and for 2014 they've teamed for something special - their first Holiday album, the result of a hugely successful Kickstarter effort. Highlighted as one of this year's top new albums in my Holiday Wish Guide, I'm excited to give all of you a chance to win one of three (3) copies of HOME FOR CHRISTMAS on CD! Check out a preview, and enter below...

Holiday 2014While the details are slim, FROZEN's IDINA MENZEL herself broke the news yesterday that she'll be releasing a new album next month, when HOLIDAY WISHES hits the streets. Set for release on October 14th via Warner Bros. Records, pre-orders have already popped-up on Amazon for what will undoubtedly be the year's top new Holiday album for 2014. Even in an era where album sales are down, there's always that one big record for the season, and this looks to be it. Check out the cover art below, and look for the tracklisting soon...

TODD McHATTON has been growing a collection of Christmas songs since 2009, and for 2013, he's assembled them all into an album called... CHRISTMAS SONGS. Being that it's Christmas Eve and all, it's time to celebrate the season of giving, and Todd's giving all of you his new album as a FREE DOWNLOAD! But like the As Seen On TV slogan goes, "But wait! There's more!" Through tomorrow (Christmas Day), ALL of Todd's albums are available as FREE DOWNLOADS via Bandcamp. That's right, you can fill your virtual stocking with some fine tunes from one of the best kindie rockers out there, all for the price of a snowflake. Check out the new video for "Santa Flying in Your Sleigh" below, right here on The Rock Father...

A long time ago on a television far, far away...

MTV played music videos. But rather than launch into a discussion of the days of yore (which has been done many times, recently very well by PORTLANDIA), it's time once more to feature a Christmas classic that those like me remember fondly... a clip that was seen most-often in the wee hours of night, and was celebrated in all of it's 12-second glory. SANTA CLAUS: THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE SLAM DANCER.

125megaxmasWith all of the "rock" and "metal" Christmas albums out there, it's always a wonder that more bands don't get in on the action. TWISTED SISTER has done it. There was that "all-star" WE WISH YOU A METAL XMAS & A HEADBANGING NEW YEAR compilation, and this year actor Christopher Lee released his second metal Xmas EP. The latest band is an unlikely one, much like BAD RELIGION's recent offering. Last night, MEGADETH unveiled their commercial for THRASHING THROUGH THE SNOW: A VERY MEGADETH CHRISTMAS. Check it out, along with an appearance from JENNY LEWIS, who duets with Dave Mustaine for "Baby, It's Cold Outside."
