Last night, THE BRIAN SETZER ORCHESTRA took a break from their 12th Annual Christmas Rocks! Tour to stop in and do a few songs on CONAN. The band performed "Here Comes Santa Claus" and "Yabba-Dabba Yuletide," along with a special version of the DICK VAN DYKE SHOW Theme Song in honor of Dick's appearance with Conan O'Brien as well. Check out some video below, and look for The BSO to hit a town near you. You can read my review of their recent stop in Waukegan,  Illinois right here. Their latest Holiday album, ROCKIN' RUDOLPH is out now on Surfdog Records.

I do love THE DARKNESS, and news like today serves to remind me why. Along with the November 20, 2015 Deluxe Edition Reissue of their latest album, LAST OF OUR KIND, the UK-based rockers have unleashed a Holiday single entitled "I Am Santa." One of four new tracks on the Deluxe Edition, "I Am Santa" has a companion music video that's a perfect throwback to those of the 70s and 80s - a perfect visual for a song that recalls tracks like "Do They Know It's Christmas?" Check it out below...

When it comes to the Holiday season and Holiday music, THE BRIAN SETZER ORCHESTRA is one of the few modern acts to become firmly solidified with both. The 18-piece big band fronted by the STRAY CATS' guitarslinger has been rockin' and swingin' for nearly a quarter-century on its own, but its association with the festive season happened purely by chance - brought about by filmmaker Brian Levant inviting Setzer to pen some tracks for his 1996 movie, JINGLE ALL THE WAY (coincidentally, my favorite Holiday film of all-time). The full story of how The BSO's "Christmas concept" evolved was eloquently detailed by Dave Kaplan in the liner notes for 2010's CHRISTMAS COMES ALIVE! album, but that story has continued. With a new record called ROCKIN' RUDOLPH out now on Surfdog Records, The BSO is back on the road for their 12th Annual Christmas Rocks! Tour - a 31-City Christmas extravaganza to close out 2015...

It may have been "Friday the 13th," but this past Friday brought a new holiday single from SABRINA CARPENTER, with "Christmas the Whole Year Round" arriving on iTunes, Amazon and all the usual streaming outlets. Sabrina has some additional Holiday Cheer to spread in the weeks ahead as well - slated to host and perform (along with Sofia Carson, Andy Grammer, Jacob Whitesides and Charlie Puth) in the “Disney Channel Fa-la-la-lidays Celebrates a Radio Disney Family Holiday” premiering Friday, December 4 (9:00 pm, ET/PT) on Disney Channel.  And to end the year, Sabrina will star as “Wendy” in PETER PAN AND TINKER BELL – A PIRATES CHRISTMAS at The Pasadena Playhouse from December 9, 2015 – January 3, 2016. Check out the new single below...

With all the coverage I give to STAR WARS, sometimes things still just sort of pop-up here and there, and that's just what's happened tonight. The 1980 STAR WARS Christmas Album (no connection to the infamous STAR WARS Holiday Special) has been a rarity in recent years, but one that some folks like myself have acquired in one form or another due to occasional reissues. Now comes word that a French company called L.M.L.R. has prepped one of their "Vinyl Replica" editions of this bizarre record - a CD-sized true replica of the original vinyl CHRISTMAS IN THE STARS album, with everything scaled-down. Set for release on November 27th as an Amazon Exclusive, the CD appears to be a fully-grooved red vinyl.

CHRISTMAS IN TAHOE, the long-rumored, first-ever Holiday album from TRAIN, will be released on November 13, 2015 as an Amazon exclusive. Amazon Prime members in the U.S and U.K.will be able to stream the record ad-free on Prime Music, at no additional cost to their membership, while it will also be available for digital download and as a physical deluxe version - also exclusively on Amazon.
