When it comes to holiday specials, Jim Henson's Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas has always ranked among my favorites - one that I'd eagerly await seeing each year when HBO would get around to airing it again... those primitive years before home video really caught on. Despite numerous releases on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray over the years, the soundtrack never got a proper release, and that's left fans like myself a little bit bummed. Paul Williams is a legend, having penned the Academy Award-nominated song "Rainbow Connection" from The Muppet Movie, "Evergreen" from A Star Is Born and many other #1 hits (he was also Little Enos in Smokey and the Bandit) and his music from Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas has been fueling singalongs for over 40 years. Now, just in time for the 2018 holiday season, the world premiere release of the soundtrack has finally taken place and Varèse Sarabande Records and The Rock Father™ have teamed-up to give you a chance to win the all-new CD!
"This is the quintessential Vince Guaraldi for our Peanuts' specials...some of his best atmospheric jazz. Vince's score carries the gang with the autumn leaves, through the scary and cold Halloween night. This music comforts the indomitable faith of Linus, still waiting for his hero since 1966 - forever in our ears, hearts and memories." -- Peanuts Executive Producer Lee Mendelson
It's hard to believe, but one of the most famous soundtracks in the beloved collection of music from the iconic Peanuts animated TV specials has never-before been released on CD or Digital. In fact, many have called it a "Holy Grail" - but on October 5, Craft Recordings will finally release It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (Music from the Soundtrack). This new collection features music by GRAMMY-winning composer/performer Vince Guaraldi, and will be issued in a CD package that includes a new introduction from the TV show's executive producer Lee Mendelson and insightful liner notes by Derrick Bang, Peanuts historian and author of Vince Guaraldi at the Piano.
It's no secret that we love Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the whole PEANUTS Gang here at Rock Father HQ. Much of the appeal for me has been the music of the Vince Guaraldi Trio, with Guaraldi's music fast-becoming just as iconic as the creations of Charles M. Schulz, and for many (likely myself included), a first introduction to jazz. Last year, Concord Music Group released PEANUTS GREATEST HITS as a remastered collection of some of the most memorable compositions, and now for 2016 it's been re-issued for the first-time ever as a Vinyl LP Picture Disc. This new record features Charlie Brown's face on Side A, with Lucy van Pelt adorning Side B, available now under the Fantasy Records imprint. Would you like to win a copy? THE ROCK FATHER Magazine has your shot!

With Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox releasing THE PEANUTS MOVIE on November 6, generations of fans both old and new are discovering the adventures of a boy named Charlie Brown. Those adventures with Snoopy, Linus and Lucy, Pig Pen, Peppermint Patty, Schroeder, The Little Red-Haired Girl and more are timeless, and I'm in the crowd that holds sincere hope that Steve Martino will have crafted a worthy companion when his film arrives in theaters. For THE PEANUTS MOVIE, it's composer Christophe Beck (ANT-MAN, FROZEN) that has some big shoes to fill - those once occupied by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. It was Guaraldi's music that became just as iconic as the creations of Charles M. Schulz, and for many (likely myself included), a first introduction to jazz. On July 31, Concord Music Group will release a new collection under the Fantasy label - PEANUTS GREATEST HITS. Featuring a dozen classic songs and all-new liner notes by Derrick Bang (author of the career-spanning book, VINCE GUARALDI AT THE PIANO), Concord Music Group and THE ROCK FATHER Magazine are pleased to give readers a chance at winning one of five (5) copies of the album on CD!
