Hot on the heels of the announcement that ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS II ft TELEPODS would be coming to Mobile Devices this September, the crew over at Rovio has teamed up with Activision to bring ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS to consoles. I am not attending Comic-Con International in San Diego. Just getting that out there, because people keep asking. I wish I was, but I have to pick-and-choose my adventures... after all, I'm an at-home Dad, and my little ones need me here. That said, I'm still covering some select happenings from SDCC, and my friends at Mimoco are continuing their reveal for their 2013 SDCC Exclusive MIMOBOTs. We already know that characters from SOUTH PARK, STAR WARS, WORKAHOLICS, and MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC are in the lineup. So who's up next? BRUCE LEE, and the Ice King from ADVENTURE TIME. Details below...

HASBRO's G.I. JOE and TRANSFORMERS lines are legendary. For a kid like me (I'm 36), the combined punch of the original animated series' and the seemingly never-ending stream of new toys made a major impact. Throw in a third factor - the monthly comic books published by MARVEL - and the adventure was truly a transmedia experience before "transmedia" was even a word. With no VOD, DVD, BD or even VHS (for us), the troops of COBRA and 'JOE would find their battles fought regularly via imagination, with our backyard swingset (the old "T" shaped variety) standing in for G.I. JOE headquarters and Cobra's TERROR DROME. Occasionally, there would be crossovers... with representatives of the Autobots and Decepticons joining the skirmish (with an occasional STAR WARS figure, too).

It's been a very long time since I've had the chance to play with a "water blaster," so when the folks at NERF asked if I'd be up for checking out a new Super Soaker here at Rock Father HQ, I immediately accepted. What soon arrived was the new NERF ARCTIC SHOCK WATER BLASTER - a powerful soaker with the ability to put the freeze into full effect. And I became the target.

The ten-year-old version of me is very disappointed. A new G.I. JOE movie came out this year, and I haven't seen it. Sure, I wasn't a big fan of the first live-action 'Joe flick (I had better adventures playing with my old Hasbro action figures in the backyard 30 years ago), but the previews I'd seen for the new one looked pretty good. If you missed it on the big screen as did I, this July you can catch up when G.I. JOE: RETALIATION comes home. The film will hit Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD and On Demand July 30, 2013 from Paramount Home Media Distribution, with a digital release two weeks early on July 16 th.  Full specs on each release hit Rock Father HQ this evening, and all can be found below.

Last month, when I was down in Miami for the PBS Annual Meeting, the folks from Hasbro beamed an assortment of their new STAR TREK KRE-O sets to Rock Father HQ back in Illinois. For the few days that I was out-of-town, and a few days after I got back... a white crate with the familiar "STAR TREK" logo was sitting in my office, taunting my oldest daughter, Addie - who just couldn't wait to dig in. I never expected it to happen so early, but Addie and I also had to have the talk...
