Quantcast

The title pretty much says it all: With the release of his new video for "Last Time For Everything," Brad Paisley just unleashed the music video that I've wanted to make for myself since 1985. Indeed, the nostalgia factor is high, from the title sequence and bikes inspired by the Netflix Original Series Stranger Things, to the inclusion of walkie talkies, a boys-only clubhouse, a DeLorean, the Ghostbusters' Ecto-1, a SONY Walkman commercial, UFOs, dinosaurs, and appearance by my idol, David Hasselhoff and K.I.T.T. from the greatest television series of all-time, Knight Rider. Best of all, the action is all captured in beautiful VHS quality, dated October 26, 1985. But I have to ask... Brad, what's with the life preserver?

Ever since they were first announced last year, the new line of PLAYMOBIL Ghostbusters toys have been on our most-anticipated list here at Rock Father HQ. Not only do I personally view Playmobil as being one of the finest toy collections of all-time, but The Rock Daughters™ count them among their most-cherished toys. Even this past Christmas, the Playmobil Hospital was the "big" gift from Santa for our oldest - something she'd been asking for all year. Now, factor in that the first pop culture license from Playmobil happens to be another favorite, and Playmobil Ghostbusters is about to be huge! Check out the trailer below...

Last year, one big story out of New York Toy Fair was that for the very first time, Playmobil would be issuing toys based on famous pop culture licenses. Promised to debut in 2017, this was exciting news on its own, but another component of the launch was revealed to be a collaboration with Funko on some larger figures presented in 6" scale. Today, Funko x Playmobil is a reality, and the first wave of 6" collectible figures is available for pre-order through my ally, Entertainment Earth! The first twelve figures are spread over five pop culture licenses including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Doctor Who and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory... and one of them is an Entertainment Earth Exclusive TMNT Black and White Raphael!

Hi-C Ecto Cooler is Dead Again...

Just yesterday, I restocked my NewAir office fridge with some staple beverages from the 1990s and now. Surge, Crystal Pepsi, and Hi-C Ecto Cooler led the charge, with Diet Mountain Dew (still my favorite), some Mountain Dew Game Fuel (both Citrus Cherry and Mango Heat) along with a few bottles of Robinson's Iron Maiden Trooper 666 beer. Of all of those beverages, the first three are strangely-returned from the grave, and the Ecto Cooler has been the crown jewel since May. Notoriously hard-to-find after the Coca-Cola Company brought it back after a decade+ hiatus thanks to a new Ghostbusters movie (one I loved), it would pop-up at local grocers like Mariano's and Meijer in miniature juice boxes, with 12oz cans available exclusively though Amazon. I wrote about the delicious beverage back in July, and now comes news that it's a dead product once again.

With the return of GHOSTBUSTERS this year (see: yesterday's entry into 31 Days of Halloween), it's not surprising that some similarly-inspired entertainment has come forth, just as it did in the era of the classic Ghostbusters. From NCircle Entertainment comes DINO DAN: TREK'S ADVENTURES - DINOBUSTERS, a new DVD featuring a dinosaur-themed parody of the classic Ghostbusters action. Surprisingly, there's no trailer available, but you can see the full cover art below...

2016 Should've been the year of the GHOSTBUSTERS, but unlike the supernatural forces that the cast of the new film faced-off against on screen, the battle against internet trolls was a little tougher to defeat. Despite the unusual backlash over the reboot of the classic franchise, GHOSTBUSTERS: ANSWER THE CALL hit theaters (read my original review here) and won over audiences and critics alike, hopefully positioning the Ghostbusters for future adventures (both animated and live-action) in the years ahead. Out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD, GHOSTBUSTERS is a perfect movie for Halloween, and a cool idea to "Boo" your neighbors with. Have you ever been BOO'd? We have...
