I always like to include some GHOSTBUSTERS action in my annual 31 Days of Halloween, but while we await any real news of GHOSTBUSTERS III, we're sort of in an off-year. You see, it's next year that's the biggie... when GHOSTBUSTERS celebrates 30 Years of Spectral Removal and Storage. In the meantime, we could flashback to 2012 when I featured both HOOBASTANK and MELO-M rocking uniquely different versions of Ray Parker Jr's Huey Lewis and the News-inspired theme song, or I could just drop-in a link to MISTAH F.A.B.'s GHOSTBUSTERS-sampling "Ghost Ride It" video... but we won't (even though I just did). Instead, let's take a quick look at a few new 30th Anniversary GHOSTBUSTERS Minimates that are coming next spring from Diamond Select Toys. It's Day 20 already...

Rick MoranisWhen I was a kid, thanks to HBO, I could not get away from RICK MORANIS. And that's not a bad thing. SCTV re-runs were on constantly, and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (which I should've been too young to watch) was viewed more times than I can count. But Moranis was both Louis Tully ("The Keymaster!") and Lord Dark Helmet, and GHOSTBUSTERS and SPACEBALLS are still viewed regularly here nearly 30 years later. Now, as the time approaches when I can share some of Moranis' classic works with my own kids, he's back with something for grownups - a new comedy album called MY MOTHER'S BRISKET & OTHER LOVE SONGS - and The Rock Father and The Syndicate want to get a few readers hooked up with copies of their own.

If you've logged into Facebook or Twitter today, you probably know what today is. Yes, it's International STAR WARS Day (May the Fourth Be With You!), but being the first Saturday in May, it's also FREE COMIC BOOK DAY. Last year was the first year I'd blogged about FCBD here on The Rock Father, and some of you might recall that it was pretty disappointing. FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2013? The complete opposite - it was excellent. It also started a little bit early...

I've been known to purchase a shirt from Teefury on occasion. They do limited edition $10 tees that are only available for 24 Hours each - then they're gone forever. Known for their pop-culture mashups (I have one that blends THE DUKES OF HAZZARD with BACK TO THE FUTURE), they've posted a shirt today that caught my eye as I do a little surfing while the munchkin is at her "2's and 3's" pre-preschool this morning. If you like GHOSTBUSTERS and STAR WARS, this one's for you...

Ever since it's release in 1984, people have been doing cover versions of Ray Parker Jr.'s theme from GHOSTBUSTERS. I've heard a ton of 'em, but two of the best belong to HOOBASTANK and MELO-M. Hoobastank's rockin' 2009 cover came complete with what is essentially a live-action version of THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS cartoon for the video...
