As audiences gear-up for a new version of GHOSTBUSTERS this summer, the folks over at Diamond Select Toys are continuing to release some fantastic action figures based on the classic, 1984 film. At the center of their collection are the highly-articulated 7" action figures, each released in waves of three, the second of which hits stores this week. In all, there will be 15 figures released, and those who purchase the "Select" versions (in the larger, specialty market-exclusive packaging, with spine artwork) will be able to complete a full rooftop diorama that represents the climax of the original film. Check out a preview of what's out now, along with a checklist of the five series' of figures headed your way in the year ahead. And if you're looking forward to the new GHOSTBUSTERS, Diamond Select will be issuing minimates, vehicles, and kitchenware based on that film later this summer.

After a special trailer premiere event in Los Angeles yesterday, the long-awaited, yet perhaps divisive trailer for Paul Feig's GHOSTBUSTERS arrived from Sony's Columbia Pictures this morning. The rebooted franchise is back in theaters this summer, more than thirty years after the beloved original took the world by storm. While there's certainly a nostalgia factor at play here - even noting the original Ghostbusting foursome of the original at the start of the trailer, the 2016 GHOSTBUSTERS is a fresh start, outside of the continuity of the 1984 film and its 1989 sequel. Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth are strapping on the Proton Packs this time around. Well, Hemsworth, maybe... if he put down the hammer. See the trailer below...

Two days ago, Tom Burns of 8-Bit Dad weighed in on the usual hard-to-find nature of female action figures by making an off-the-cuff remark about the future availability of toys from Director Paul Fieg's GHOSTBUSTERS. The new film starring Kristin Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones is out July 15 via Columbia Pictures/Sony, and from the looks of things, next month's annual Toy Fair International in New York City should have no shortage of GHOSTBUSTERS goodness. According to Fieg on twitter, pretty much all of the current licensees for classic GHOSTBUSTERS merch (based on the 1984 film and its 1989 sequel) are in the mix - LEGO, Diamond Select, Funko, and more - and will be producing over 20 figures in various sizes and styles. The first batch to be revealed? Mattel's 6" line of articulated figures. Take a look...

Right now, Paul Feig is creating an all-new GHOSTBUSTERS movie - one with Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon (all pictured up-top) strapping on the Proton Packs for a new adventure that Sony Pictures will release on July 15, 2016. While the new Ghostbusters certainly have my attention, I come from the generation that grew up on the original (which I saw in the theater back in 1984) and will forever hold completely dear. Ray Parker Jr.'s iconic theme song still gets regular play here, and The Rock Daughters™ can even pick my original vinyl 45 out of a stack. Carrying on that legacy, I've featured a number of cover versions of the GHOSTBUSTERS theme over the years (Hoobastank, Melo-M), and this year another finds its way into my annual 31 Days of Halloween here at THE ROCK FATHER™ Magazine. From ODDS & ENDS, the new album by ANDREW & POLLY, comes a very different take on this famous song. Check out ANDREW & POLLY performing "Ghostbusters," below...

1984. Yes, it was 30 years ago already that Zuul and the gang came to New York, getting the town slimed, marshmallowed, and otherwise messed up. It four crazy guys - Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Egon Spengler, Dr. Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore (not a Dr.) - who were charged with "Cleanin' Up The Town," and GHOSTBUSTERS became one of the most popular films of all-time. For 31 Days of Halloween here on THE ROCK FATHER, the Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary Collection makes it's way into the countdown, with some fantastic collectibles and items available only for a limited time!

I didn't intend to have a dual-dose of GHOSTBUSTERS in this year's 31 Days of Halloween here on The Rock Father, but sometimes things just happen. Athena Stamos, host of CraveOnline's STAR CARS series, got in touch earlier today with the latest episode of her award-winning webseries about some of the most famous rides on the road. The latest? A look at two Ectomobiles... a pair of classic Cadillacs, each re-tooled to carry on the legacy of the famous vehicle from the 1984 film. Check it out below, for Day 23...
