After acquiring MEGA BLOKS last year following a previous partnership that found iconic Mattel properties such as Barbie and Hot Wheels making their way into block form, Mattel has announced some major moves to expand their construction sets by bringing some major licenses into the world of MEGA BLOKS. From Mattel's own portfolio comes the long-rumored new collection of MONSTER HIGH Building Sets that find the ghoulish guys and gals taking play into a whole different realm. MEGA BLOKS will also issue new sets under their Power Rangers line, with collections based on Saban's POWER RANGERS DINO CHARGE, which just debuted on Nickelodeon this month. While those are cool, the biggest news may be a pair of licenses that they've snagged from others in the growing brick segment...

Jazwares has unveiled new additions to it's preschool category at the currently-running 2015 North American International Toy Fair. New toys featuring PEPPA PIG and CHUCK & FRIENDS are rolling out this year, a preview of which can be found below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

Oh yes, they did.

I received my first CABBAGE PATCH KID back in 1984 - the result of my parents not paying scalpers for one during the mad craze of 1983. I still have him - his name is Ollie - and he's now a happy cousin to many other Cabbage Patch Kids here at Rock Father HQ, those owned by my daughters, and even one known as "Baby Boy" that was owned by my late friend, Justin Mentell. The dolls created by Xavier Roberts have had an interesting history, having been produced over the past 30+ years by Coleco, Hasbro, Mattel, Toys "R" Us, Play Along Toys, JAKKS Pacific... and now, Wicked Cool Toys. Just ahead of New York Toy Fair, the folks at Wicked Cool have officially been named the new master toymaker for the Cabbage Patch Kids brand - and I've got a sneak peek!

Earlier this month, I shared a preview of BARBIE IN PRINCESS POWER, the 30th animated film to feature Barbie and her friends. For the first time in Mattel's 56-year history, Barbie is donning the cape and mask to become a real superhero (unlike the times she's dressed-up as licensed characters), and at the world's largest Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Barbie appeared as a live-action, high-flying character to launch the toy line associated with the coming film, and it's digital empowerment mission, Be Super. Check out some video from the launch...

Confirmed: I need a LEGO Mystery Machine to go along with my LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1. This August, that just may happen as  Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, Velma and the Mystery Machine, as well as all the ghosts, goblins and other villains that make SCOOBY-DOO adventures complete come to LEGO form for the very first time in a series of five new building sets. Announced today by The LEGO Group and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, the sets will be accompanied by a 22-minute LEGO SCOOBY-DOO special, and made-for-video movie titles by Warner Bros. Animation that will feature the Mystery Inc. gang animated in LEGO form, much like BATMAN and STAR WARS before them.

Danica PatrickI've long held that girls and racing are two things that are underserved when it comes to toys and playthings. With few exceptions, there haven't been a ton of racing products aimed firmly at young girls - surprising since there's profile drivers out there such as Leilani Münter and Milka Duno, youngsters like Johanna Long, and then the thousands of girls honing their skills in various youth programs and small track circuits around the globe. No doubt the most well-known right now is Danica Patrick, and she's been involved with most of the few merchandising exceptions, having made an appearance in a recent SONIC THE HEDGEHOG video game, for which Mattel produced a limited-edition Hot Wheels "Danicar" that was offered as a Gamestop Exclusive (one that my oldest daughter Addie proudly owns), and even getting her own halloween/role-play costume. Now, the folks at Madame Alexander are stepping-up to go a little bit bigger, teaming with NASCAR and driver Patrick for some new collections of play dolls featuring the driver of the No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. While my experience as a parent and observer has shown that girls love racing, Madame Alexander has some solid numbers to back it up...
