Toy FairIf you've been following this site and our adventures for a little while, you may have already seen that The Rock Daughters are little speed demons. It's hard to believe that they'll be 4 & 7 this year, but if these past few years of parenting adventures have taught us anything, it's that "faster!" is something of a mantra. It started with Addie, inspiration seemingly coming from Hot Wheels and Disney•Pixar's CARS, and then Finley came along and she took things to a whole new level. These kids love to drive, and they love to go fast - and that shows in our garage (which has some interesting vehicles). The 2.5mph 6-Volt rides don't cut it, and the 5mph 12-volt have an expiration date that's not too far off. And, while both girls have done gas-powered rides, for home use, electric is the way to go. So now comes Actev Motors and their ARROW SMART-KART, "the first smart electric go-kart for kids" ages 5-9. Check this out..

Toy FairUPDATE: Check THIS out! The PAW Patrol Lookout Climber!

Spin Master has really done a fantastic job with their PAW Patrol line, building out a world around the hit Nick Jr. series, and releasing some really great toys to support it. Undoubtedly one of the big favorites here at Rock Father HQ, the PAW Patrol toys are not just appreciated by The Rock Daughters, but by yours truly as well. They're well-made, fun, and there's just a spirit of adventure built into them. With the recent AIR RESCUE episode helping to launch a small sub-line this past month (Finley keeps asking for the Air Patroller), Spin Master entered the North American International Toy Fair armed with a full portfolio of new toys - figures, vehicles and playsets - along with some new offerings that support some different play patterns. What adventures lie ahead in 2016? PAW Patrol is going Medieval at some point, but they're also having a Jungle Adventure, with a new pup named Tracker joining the crew, along with his human friend, Carlos. Let's take a peek...

Toy FairIt's interesting to see how certain shows go "in waves" under one roof, and PEPPA PIG is certainly riding a good one here at Rock Father HQ. Right now, it's part of the nightly routine, saved on the DVR and requested before bedtime, and just today - as a Valentine's Day treat, both of The Rock Daughters received a little something Peppa-releated. For Addie, small plush of Peppa and George, and for Finley, a Walmart-exclusive complete family set (including Grandma & Grandpa Pig!). Perfectly timed comes the announcement out of Jazwares that they'll be expanding their Peppa Pig offerings, with new products just announced at the North American International Toy Fair in New York...

If there's one place I should be right now, it's in New York for the 113th North American International Toy Fair. Instead, I'm covering virtually from Rock Father HQ in snowy Northern Illinois, and tonight comes news that the Toy Industry Association (TIA) has released their list of the Top Toy Trends for 2016. Working with toys (toymakers) year-round myself, I'm in complete agreement with this year's list - one compiled in the weeks leading up to Toy Fair, as global toy companies identify what families will be playing with in the year ahead, leading into the all-important holiday season - something I watch with great interest as I compile my annual Holiday Wish Guide. Check out what's hot this year...

Toy FairWe do love our trains around here, but one thing that's important is the parental supervision when it comes to the electric models. With that in mind, my interest was piqued by the first-ever battery-operated train sets to be release by the folks at Bachmann Trains - the HO scale passenger United Railways Express and freight Fast Rail Flyer. Both are debuting this week at the New York Toy Fair, and you can see some specs and images below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine...

Toy FairIt's as if it was predicted... Just two days ago, The Rock Daughters hit Target armed with the last of their Xmas gift cards. Both picked up "animal carriers" from the recent DOC McSTUFFINS PET VET collection, and when they came home, I'd coincidentally just posted news of Doc's fourth season, coming to Disney Junior - DOC McSTUFFINS: TOY HOSPITAL. Half-jokingly, I said to one of the publicists at Disney, "I sense some new toys in our future," not even thinking that said toys would already emerge at Toy Fair. It's true, though - my friends at Just Play Toys are rolling out The Doc McStuffins Toy Hospital Line, in which Dottie is the Chief Resident at her new Toy Hospital, helping toys from all over the world. Just Play's new line of Doc McStuffins role play toys lets kids Ages 3+ heal their toys, just like Doc, and it‟s just what the doctor ordered! Check out a first-look preview, right here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine!
