Last year, PLAYMOBIL surprised audiences by getting into the realm of pop culture licenses for the first time. Now in their 44th year, PLAYMOBIL is entering their second year of licensed product by expanding upon the first to launch - PLAYMOBIL Ghostbusters. That line was a huge hit right out of the gate, and we were lucky enough to have received the Ecto-1 for review last year, along with the iconic Firehouse Playset as a gift from The Toy Insider. My girls and I were so into it that we eventually purchased all of the other sets. So with a collection based largely on 1984's Ghostbusters, it's only logical that the next step would be 1989's Ghostbusters II and the folks at PLAYMOBIL have done just that... but they're also looking for inspiration in a more unexpected place: The Real Ghostbusters.

At Toy Fair in New York last month, the Spin Master booth was a center of constant activity. While their offerings are diverse, their television brands are a big deal, and we're now entering into the second year for Rusty Rivets, which airs daily on Nick Jr. Last year, the much-anticipated toy line first hit the scene as a Toys "R" Us Exclusive, but this year it's a wide-release meaning that parents should be able to find these just about anywhere. While I was personally hoping to see a Mobile Rivet Lab Playset on display (it might've been too new), that didn't happen but a lot of other great items have materialized. The Rock Father™ is excited to present to you a full look at the 2018 Rusty Rivets toy line, complete with suggested pricing and availability dates below. Get ready to Combine It and Design It!

Hard to believe that the The Toy Association's 115th North American International Toy Fair wrapped-up a week ago already, but it did, and I'll still be presenting content from Toy Fair here in the virtual pages of The Rock Father™ Magazine and over at The Toy Insider for some time to come. The annual event is significant, and outside of the toy industry, I'm not sure that the general public has any real idea of the magnitude of this thing - it's MASSIVE. Today the official numbers came in, and in all 26,236 professionals attended the largest toy show in the Western Hemisphere. The Javits center played host to hundreds of thousands of toys and games across 442,700 net square feet of exhibit space – the equivalent of about seven football fields! Curious for more data? With two little girls here at Rock Father™ HQ, my wife and I have purchased more than a few pairs of "kid-safe" headphones over the past few years, and frankly, most of them are garbage. From expensive ones that the kids find uncomfortable to the cool-looking, yet terrible-sounding licensed variety sold for cheap at retailers like Five Below, I've checked out a bunch and had never found any that I could really be excited about until now. At New York Toy Fair, I came across something unexpected while browsing the latest offerings from the crew over at Wicked Cool Toys. They've recently partnered with Halo Acoustic to help bring CozyPhones to a wider audience, and after bringing a couple of pairs back to Illinois, they're an immediate hit. CozyPhones are a 3-in-1 combo of headphones, sleep mask and a stylish headband.

It's never fun to do a reveal that doesn't genuinely show the goods, but sometimes things just aren't quite ready yet. At Toy Fair there's always a lot of in-development product that's "pending licensor approval," and for some companies that means showing it privately, but not allowing pictures to get out there. The folks at Jada Toys have some fantastic offerings on the way, serving up new toys for kids and collectors alike, but unfortunately most of them are not ready to be seen. From new additions to their growing Nano Metalfigs line to all-new collections like a diecast line for girls (complete with licenses like Nickelodeon's Sunny Day) and expansion of their long-running Fast & Furious and supercar/tuners assortments, I'll be sharing much more very soon. For right now, though - there's one line in particular that really hit the sweet spot for me, and one property that really pushed it over the top. Hollywood Rides + KNIGHT RIDER? I'm in! Check out the video below...

Nickelodeon's new hit preschool series Top Wing is getting a toy line. The product line, which includes figures, vehicles and plush inspired by the show’s four best friend rescue birds, will launch in the U.S. this fall, followed by international markets in Spring 2019. These new toys will arrive courtesy of Hasbro, and will be released under the iconic PLAYSKOOL banner. News arrived today ahead of Toy Fair in New York...
