2017 Holiday Wish GuideAs expected, Marvel Studios’ THOR: RAGNAROK lit up the box office during the early days of November, ushering in a heroic start to the holiday movie season. Like the films that have preceded it in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the latest installment is joined by a full line of toys from Hasbro, and among them are a fresh assortment of role-play items and interactive figures. To celebrate the release of the film, Hasbro sent over an assortment for review, and The Rock Daughters™ were more than happy to crack them open for some new adventures. Check out the review and unboxing video below!

THOR: RAGNAROK Toys

If the current cycle of film sequels and continuations has taught us anything, it’s that when we next catch up with our favorite heroes, they’ll usually come back bigger and better – revamped and refreshed. The new role-play offerings from Hasbro mirror that, but as kids grow up, there’s new generations in the target age range when each new film is released. While it’s probably not the norm for most families to have duplicates, we actually have the past generation Hulk hands here, along with Thor’s Hammer – Mjolnir

For THOR: RAGNAROK, there’s a new “gladiator” spin on things, so now we have the Thor Rumble Strike Hammer, alongside the Hulk Smash FX Fists and Hulk Out Mask. Both the hammer and fists are noticeably larger than the earlier versions, and they now have sound – electronic for the fists, spring-loaded for the hammer. The mask is much like the famed Chewbacca mask or the Rocket Raccoon one we’ve had for a few years, with chin-activated expression that’s pretty entertaining. For kids that love to dress-up and inhabit their favorite characters, these are a fine addition to the collection.

While I’ve always tended to prefer the smaller 3.75″ or even 6″ scale action figures, there’s been a renewed trend toward larger scales in recent years, and Hasbro does a nice job with their electronic figures in a roughly 12″ scale. Here we have Electronic Thor and Interactive Gladiator Hulk, which both include five points of articulation alongside phrases and sounds from the movie.

THOR: RAGNAROK Electronic Figures

Nicely detailed, Hulk is my personal favorite of the two, with “smashing” action that allows him to swing his gladiator hammer to crushing results. The removable helmet is also a nice touch, and with both of these placed together, IR action allows the figures to interact with one another with new phrases that highlight the “buddy” element of the new film.

With the holiday season upon us, THOR: RAGNAROK toys are the perfect gift for the heroic child – available now at HasbroToyShop.com and most major retailers nationwide!
