Force Friday Countdown: Kenner STAR WARS Dagobah Action Playset - 36 Days to Go!

The STAR WARS Dagobah Action Playset from Kenner's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK collection was hands-down one of my favorite playsets of all-time. Any kid that had this upon release in 1981 can tell you just how many adventures were had putting figures into foam "quicksand" that was supposed to emulate the swamp into which Luke Skywalker crash-landed his X-Wing Fighter - or "levitating" plastic boxes for that true "Force" effect. While my playset is long-gone, I do have a Mint-on-Card (MOC) Yoda that my wife bought me as a gift a long time ago... and a loose Obi-Wan Kenobi that I can look upon with fond memories. The Kenner STAR WARS Dagobah Action Playset is featured as today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward the September 4th release of toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Force Friday Countdown: STAR WARS Lando Calrissian and Luke Skywalker... in Disguise - 37 Days to Go!

Oh, man... growing up, the "in disguise" action figures were always such a treat! Princess Leia in Boushh Disguise! Lando Calrissian in Skiff Guard Disguise! Luke Skywalker and Han Solo in Stormtrooper Disguise! Today it's Luke and Lando (in Disguise!) that are featured as an entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward the September 4th release of toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. While we don't have the specific versions that are featured (Saga Legends Lando and Black Series Luke - both from 2015), we have some of the late 1990s Power of the Force figures that are still having plenty of adventures.

Force Friday Countdown: STAR WARS REBELS' Sabine Wren - 38 Days to Go!

It is undeniable that one of the breakout characters on Disney XD's STAR WARS REBELS is Sabine Wren. Sporting Mandalorian armor similar to that of Boba Fett, Sabine was one of the most skilled explosives and weapons experts in the early days of the Rebel Alliance. While her story may have unfolded "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away," families still have much to learn about this talented tagger as new episodes of STAR WARS REBELS are set to debut this Fall. Sabine's Mission Series action figure from Hasbro is featured as today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward the September 4th release of toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Force Friday Countdown: STAR WARS Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi - 39 Days to Go!

Well this is a little bit different. Today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar (moving toward the September 4th release of toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS) features the 2008 Legacy Collection version of Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi - but we're not talking about Sir Alec Guinness, the exploits of that "crazy old wizard," or even the adventures of a young Kenobi in the days prior to his hiding out near The Dune Sea. No, today's entry is dedicated to Producer Gary Kurtz, who was born back in 1940. The producer of both STAR WARS and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, Kurtz also has the producer's cap for a related film that I've had some involvement with over the years... Patrick Read Johnson's 5-25-77.

Force Friday Countdown: STAR WARS Jedi Knight Foul Moudama - 40 Days to Go!

If you think you've seen this strange-looking four-eyed chap at a Cantina near Mos Eisley, you're wrong. That was Muftak you're thinking of (friend of Kabe), but he was from the species known as Talz, as is Jedi Master Foul Moudama. Unfortunately, Moudama found himself at the end of a lightsaber blade - getting whacked by General Grievous during The Clone Wars. The late Foul Moudama is featured as today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward the September 4th release of toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

STAR WARS Mr. Potato Head PopTaters get Boba Fett, C-3PO and Slave Leia!

Ahead of the release of J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS this December, the crew at PPW Toys has announced a trio of classic STAR WARS characters to join their growing line-up of Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head PopTaters that they produce under license from Hasbro. The next figures to come from a galaxy far, far away include C-3PO, Bounty Hunter Boba Fett, and Princess Leia in her famous gold bikini from RETURN OF THE JEDI.  Here's what PPW says about their new PopTaters...

Force Friday Countdown: STAR WARS' Attacktix Starter Set - 41 Days to Go!

Over the course of nearly four decades of STAR WARS toys, there have been some stinkers - both commercially, and for me personally. While I've heard that ATTACKTIX battle sets did ok, they piqued my interest just enough to have me completely ignore them in the toy aisles in my pre-Rock Father years. The 2007 ATTACKTIX STARTER SET of Series 3 Figures is featured as today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward the September 4th release of toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. Hey, you could have Optimus Prime and the TRANSFORMERS fight Darth Vader...

Force Friday Countdown: STAR WARS' Junk-Dealing Watto - 42 Days to Go!

Let's just say this outright: Watto was a slave-owning jerk. There's absolutely nothing endearing about the Tatooine-based junk dealer that once owned young Anakin Skywalker and his mother, and that's not even accounting for the fact that he doesn't even take Republic Credits at his retail emporium. The guy was a little flying dirtbag, and it's no wonder that his little piece of human "property" grew up to be Darth Vader. Watto and R2-TO are featured as today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward the September 4th release of toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS! Additionally, it should be noted that The Jawa Organization was not pleased with Watto moving in on their turf. The last thing you want is The Jawa Mafia showing up at your shop with a thermal detonator in the middle of the night. "Utini!"

Force Friday Countdown: STAR WARS Speeder Bike with Biker Scout - 43 Days to Go!

I've owned more than a few Speeder Bikes in my day - from the Kenner version that was released in 1983, to the big 12" POWER OF THE FORCE edition that was sold as a Target Exclusive about 15 years ago. Right now, The Rock Daughters and I have at least three Speeder Bikes from the 3¾" STAR WARS Power of The Force series, and they get into some solid adventures straight from the story of RETURN OF THE JEDI. While we don't have it here, the 2014 "Black Series" Speeder Bike with Biker Scout is featured as today's entry into Hasbro's Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward the September 4th release of toys from J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS!
