2017 CAS LogoAs The LEGO Batman Movie soars into theaters this weekend, it's pretty appropriate that The Batmobile is in the Windy City. After all, Chicago doubled for Gotham City back when Christopher Nolan was crafting his Dark Knight Trilogy. Thing is, this Batmobile is a much different beast. The 2017 LEGO Batmobile from Chevrolet made its official debut in Detroit last month, a life-sized replica of "The Speedwagon" driven by LEGO Batman (voiced by Will Arnett) in the new film. Now, that ride, crafted from a total of 344,187 LEGO bricks supported by a square-tube aluminum frame, is sitting in McCormick Place, the result of 222 hours of design time, and 1,833 hours of construction by LEGO Master Builders. For it's appearance at The Chicago Auto Show, the LEGO Batmobile sits in front of a brick wall illuminated by moving Bat (and Chevy) signals, each zeroing in on LEGO Batman himself! Earlier this month, FIFTH HARMONY unleashed a live-action music video for their latest single, "That's My Girl," racking up nearly 23 million plays in under two weeks. Today, the song gets animated as Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) and DC Entertainment (DCE) have announced a partnership with the pop powerhouse to collaborate on the first-ever DC Super Hero Girls music video.  The colorful new clip for "That's My Girl" features Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Bumblebee, Poison Ivy and Katana, the animated DC Super Hero Girls, and can be viewed below...

One of the biggest transmedia initiatives that we've been excited about for the past year is DC SUPER HERO GIRLS, the joint op between Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) and DC Entertainment (DCE), in partnership with Mattel. I've posted about it frequently,  but the biggest looming question has been "where and when can we get the goods?" Tonight that's answered, as the parties involved have announced an exclusive partnership with Target Corporation to offer a first-look at the DC Super Hero Girls merchandise collection, featuring a special assortment of merchandise across multiple categories, including toys and dress up, apparel and accessories, publishing and more, to be sold exclusively at Target, beginning in March 2016. "DC Super Hero Girls harnesses the power of the world’s most iconic female characters from DC Comics, including Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Batgirl, as they learn to hone their super powers in a high school setting and gives young fans the chance to play, watch, read and be inspired to discover their full super power potential." I can tell you this - Target already gets a lot of our dollars, and this just locked us in for more. Check out more details on the rollout below...

2016 is already shaping up to be a huge year for fans of DC Comics, with DC SUPER HERO GIRLS rolling out, BATMAN v. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE hitting theaters, and the grownups-only SUICIDE SQUAD following down the line. For the toy aisles, there's a new addition that's just been revealed, and it comes from some old "friends."

Guests at Comic-Con International in San Diego last week got a first-look at the latest real-life vehicle to be spawned from the world of Mattel's iconic HOT WHEELS brand. The BATMAN v. SUPERMAN Twin Mill was inspired by the forthcoming BATMAN v. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, and will be reproduced as a 1:64 scale diecast car that kids and collectors will be able to find next spring as part of a larger BvS line of vehicles. A press release hit my inbox today that had me genuinely excited. My wife and I have shared our love of superheroes with our daughters since their birth, and thus I've shared their own growing love of superheroes with readers of this very website -- so the news of DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. and Mattel teaming up for what they're calling "A New Superhero Universe Designed Just For Girls" really hit the spot. DC SUPER HERO GIRLS debuts this Fall, bringing with it "an immersive digital experience, original digital content and digital publishing—providing opportunities for girls to interact with characters, learn about the storylines, and engage in customizable play." In 2016 we will see toys (including  "Mattel's first Action Figures for Girls"), TV specials, movies, apparel, books and more, all with the goal of "building character and confidence, and empowering girls to discover their true potential." We're in, and if you follow my social profiles for THE ROCK FATHER, then you already know why. It was just last Friday that we had "Breakfast With the Superheroes" here with Supergirl and Wonder Woman, but that's happened before...
