One of my favorite things of 2018 so far has been Nintendo Labo. I first played it at the 115th North American International Toy Fair in NYC, and upon launch we had a set delivered direct to Rock Father HQ from my friends at Nintendo. Labo is something that's hard to really grasp without playing it hands-on, and as we now know, it's an experience that Nintendo intends to have around for a long time to come. The possibilities are unexpected, and perhaps endless, and this week one of the most popular games for the Switch just became Nintendo Labo compatible. Ready for a whole new way to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? Grab the Toy Con motorbike handlebars and get ready to race! Check out the video below...

In the interest of full disclosure, GameStop has been a great promotional partner and ally of The Rock Father™ Magazine over the past few years, as has their sister company, ThinkGeek. I feature their content often (I was even wearing ThinkGeek-supplied Marvel High-Tops to the World Premiere of Avengers: Infinity War) and do so not just because of our relationship, but because I'm a fan first and I like their stores. I hope I can continue working with them for a long time to come, but then there's some occasional rumblings... word that things on the business end aren't as sunny as they could be. They're facing some challenges, but I don't think it's beyond fixing - in fact, quite the opposite. They could be on the cusp of an evolution that could set them up for years of success, or they can bow to investor pressure and wind up in a leveraged buyout situation with private equity involved. If GameStop is playing with private equity (which they confirmed this morning), they might add a few extra credits to gain a few more lives temporarily, but the debt they may incur could have them facing a "boss" they can't beat, ultimately leading to a premature "game over."

2018 is the year of Legendary Pokémon, and to celebrate this epic occasion, families have a new ways to add some fresh characters to Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon (full disclosure: We received copies of those games from the folks at Nintendo) the newest Nintendo 3DS games in the franchise. Legendary Pokémon are some of the most powerful and well-known Pokémon out there - and throughout the year,  there will be multiple ways for kids to add them to their Pokémon Ultra SunPokémon Ultra MoonPokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon game! For May, those are Yveltal and Xerneas, originally discovered in the Kalos region - and the FREE DOWNLOAD CODE to get them is only available at GameStop (an affiliate) through 5/27.

Milestone's GRAVEL is all about bringing the thrill of off-road racing into your home, but what's the fun of racing if you can't challenge your friends? Following the recent release of their Ice & Fire DLC, the GRAVEL (get it from my affiliate, GameStop) team is now showing off their multiplayer modes in a new trailer that shows some of the new modes that players can take part in with up to seven friends. Going beyond single race and championship, Capture the Flag and King Run bring some new dynamics into the game. Check it out...

This week, the Nintendo Switch celebrated its first birthday. Our family has been in on the action since day one - and I was actually into it a bit early thanks to attending some pre-launch events. The system is just getting started, and while we await the launch of some cool new initiatives like Nintendo Labo (which I've played for an hour and a half - more on that soon!), my friends at GameStop have come up with a fun new way to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe... if only for a round. Our family took the #NintendoSwitchChallenge and the video proof is below! Now GameStop wants to see how you fare. If you take the challenge, you could win some sweet prizes on social media... but we're also giving readers of The Rock Father Magazine a chance to win a Nintendo Switch Accessory prize pack that's filled with fun hear from PDP Gaming. You could say that it's the Switch's birthday, but you get the presents!

It's Tax Season, and depending on where you fall in life, that can mean a feeling of excitement or a feeling of dread. For those who will be receiving a refund this year, I always say "don't blow it!" - but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have a little fun with some of it. If gaming is your thing, my friends at GameStop want to help you stretch your refund... you could even say "reFUN" your refund as your cash respawns. They've got some of the hottest gaming gear at some great prices, and it kicked-off with the one-day PRO Day (which you've already missed - queue the Pac-Man defeat noise!). But now through March 10, you can multiply those hard-earned dollars with unbeatable savings and trade-in offers on a variety of games, consoles, accessories, toys and apparel! To celebrate the season of savings, The Rock Father™ and GameStop are teaming-up to sweeten the deal by giving YOU a chance to WIN a Tax Season Gaming Prize Pack featuring collectibles from Funko & PDP plus accessories for the Nintendo Switch! First, let's take a quick look at some new games to be excited about in March...
