#ForGrownups: I almost started the 2014 Holiday Gift Guide tonight. Almost. Very tempting, because this is the type of thing that goes well as a gift - so well that the folks at Activision even dropped the word "Holiday" into their announcement, as "upping the ante this Holiday" season. When you think about it, November pretty much is a holiday for COD enthusiasts - myself included, as it's the one game I indulge in like clockwork once a year. On November 4, it happens again with the release of CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE, and today comes news of three special editions... The Atlas Pro Edition and Atlas Limited Edition (available for pre-order while supplies last) and the Digital Pro Edition that will be available for pre-order at a later date. Full details follow.

When it comes to video gaming, I still have not yet entered the "Next Generation," which is technically already here. I've also not yet played DISNEY INFINITY, despite covering news on it for over a year at this point - but the upcoming release of DISNEY INFINITY: MARVEL SUPER HEROES (2.0 Edition) just might be the push I need. But then there's conflict since I've long been a loyalist to the Microsoft XBOX 360, but Sony's PS4 is looking more and more appealing with the news that landed here at Rock Father HQ this evening: Disney and Sony have teamed up for a Collector's Edition for both PS4 and PS3, and a hardware bundle for the PS3 (not sure why they wouldn't go PS4 on that, though). Check out the trailer and specs...

If you grew up in the 1980s as did I, you blew into a Nintendo Entertainment System cartridge more than a few times. I did, and I still have my non-functioning NES (and a Power Glove!) stored safely away for eventual repair. But did blowing into the cartridge really work to aid in the weird NES start-up glitches? That depends on who you speak with about it, but the one thing I've heard most over the years has been confirmed by Nintendo themselves - that blowing into the cartridge can cause damage by corroding it due to the moisture in your breath. This week, PBS Digital Studios' IT'S OK TO BE SMART looks into the mystery of "Why Did we Blow On Nintendo Games?" Take a look at what they have to say about it...

I keep getting reminders that I need an Xbox One. I loved DEAD RISING, then missed DEAD RISING 2, but when DEAD RISING 3 was announced... it was exclusive to the "next generation" system. Now there's this crazy new thing called Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX +α, a new DLC experience that adds to DEAD RISING 3 and features 35 original songs by composer Oleksa Lozowchuk and various artists including Traz Damji, QUAZR, Stu Goldberg and SKY 13. Want the soundtrack? Sumthing Else Music Works has made the official soundtrack album available as a free digital download exclusively at their official site.

It has been a really long time since I've had the chance to get into a STAR WARS video game. There were some really good ones along the way, but I sort of moved away from it. That said, I've been hoping for a new chance to become immersed in a galaxy far, far away - and 2015's STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT just might be the game. At the in-progress E3 event, Electronic Arts unleashed the first official trailer for the game (which includes an introduction to the development team). See that trailer, along with the teaser that first appeared at last year's E3 below...

On May 27th, Ubisoft will unleash WATCH DOGS, the most pre-ordered new game in their history, and the most pre-ordered new IP in the entire gaming industry this far for 2014. While I haven't played it yet, WATCH DOGS (Pre-Order: Amazon | Gamestop) is a game that holds special interest for me - it's setting being Chicago, the general home base for all Rock Father Operations. This open-world adventure looks fantastic, and offers gameplay on a level that I don't believe has been seen before - where the multiplayer world can hack into your single player game, and everyone and everything is connected. Check out a couple of looks at the game below, along with all the details on the recently-announced partnerships for exclusive, real-world WATCH DOGS goods...
