Retro gaming is showing no signs of slowing down, and as the archives continue to be mined, I keep being reminded of games that took up a lot of time during my youth. On November 13, the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection is coming to Nintendo Switch, bringing a host of classic games from SNK's early days into the new realm. So far, 13 games have been announced, and while more are to be revealed, one game does it for me: GUERRILLA WAR. It came out in 1987 as an arcade game, later being ported to the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and I spent a ton of time playing it. I don't even care what other games are on it - I'm sold. Check out the trailer below, and pre-order now via GameStop or Amazon (both affiliates)

One of my favorite things of 2018 so far has been Nintendo Labo. I first played it at the 115th North American International Toy Fair in NYC, and upon launch we had a set delivered direct to Rock Father HQ from my friends at Nintendo. Labo is something that's hard to really grasp without playing it hands-on, and as we now know, it's an experience that Nintendo intends to have around for a long time to come. The possibilities are unexpected, and perhaps endless, and this week one of the most popular games for the Switch just became Nintendo Labo compatible. 2018 is the year of Legendary Pokémon, and to celebrate this epic occasion, families have a new ways to add some fresh characters to Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon (full disclosure: We received copies of those games from the folks at Nintendo) the newest Nintendo 3DS games in the franchise. Legendary Pokémon are some of the most powerful and well-known Pokémon out there - and throughout the year,  there will be multiple ways for kids to add them to their Pokémon Ultra SunPokémon Ultra MoonPokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon game! For May, those are Yveltal and Xerneas, originally discovered in the Kalos region - and the FREE DOWNLOAD CODE to get them is only available at GameStop (an affiliate) through 5/27.

Updated 5/21/2018 - Hopefully you were there for GameStop's most recent Pro Day Event, which took place on May 19 - another momentous occasion for Pros to buy games, gear, accessories, collectibles and more for super-low prices that are even lower than the low prices that they enjoy every day. You could say that Pro Day offers "heroic savings" during a single epic one-day event, and if the folks at GameStop were to go any lower they'd risk fracturing Earth's tectonic lithosphere plates. If you missed it, fear not! This is a perfect opportunity to become a PowerUp Rewards Pro or Elite Member and then keep an eye on the Pro Day site for when the next one will go down. In the meantime, The Rock Father™ and GameStop are teaming-up like Mario and Luigi to give YOU a chance to score a PowerUp Prize Pack right here! It's a chance to gear-up for summer with a sampling of items from some of the awesome companies that make Pro Day happen with brands you love like PDP Gaming, Funko, PowerA, Gunner Optiks and more. Ready to rock? Let's take a look at the latest installment of GameStop TV for a preview of some much-anticipated upcoming games, then enter for your chance to win below...

After a surprise announcement and months of hype, Nintendo Labo has finally arrived. This new system links the physical and digital realms of the Nintendo Switch in ways that most would've never imagined, allowing players to "make, play and discover." It's such a unique experience, it's somewhat hard to describe without actually playing it, and I had a chance to do just that during an hour-and-a-half session behind closed doors with Nintendo at the 115th North American International Toy Fair back in February. But there's also a lot to be gained by watching others and seeing what their creations are all about, and for launch Nintendo has teamed-up with a guy that knows a bit about labs... Bill Nye. Check out the video below to see what The Science Guy whips up, then get creative and start sharing your own ideas

This week, the Nintendo Switch celebrated its first birthday. Our family has been in on the action since day one - and I was actually into it a bit early thanks to attending some pre-launch events. The system is just getting started, and while we await the launch of some cool new initiatives like Nintendo Labo (which I've played for an hour and a half - more on that soon!), my friends at GameStop have come up with a fun new way to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe... if only for a round. Our family took the #NintendoSwitchChallenge and the video proof is below! Now GameStop wants to see how you fare. If you take the challenge, you could win some sweet prizes on social media... but we're also giving readers of The Rock Father Magazine a chance to win a Nintendo Switch Accessory prize pack that's filled with fun hear from PDP Gaming. You could say that it's the Switch's birthday, but you get the presents!
