Confession: I and my children have never played LEGO Dimensions... not even a demo, and for whatever reason, despite all of my LEGO coverage, it just hasn't happened. While my interest was piqued last year, we missed the first go 'round of the LEGO entry in the "toys-to-life" aisle, but with today's news that may have to change... LEGO Dimensions just grabbed my retro-loving heart. This Fall, the call is to "Go Bigger," and that means new characters spanning new franchises, many of which are completely unexpected. From a LEGO "Tom Cruise" as MISSION IMPOSSIBLE's Ethan Hunt to characters from ADVENTURE TIME and the forthcoming GHOSTBUSTERS reboot, the 80s are well-represented with E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, THE GOONIES, GREMLINS, BEETLEJUICE and THE A-TEAM, and the biggest one for me... a set from the greatest television series of all-time: KNIGHT RIDER! While there's no pictures available, you can pretty much expect a LEGO Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff) and K.I.T.T. to compliment the just-revealed B.A. Baracus (Mr. T) and GMC Van from THE A-TEAM. But that's not all that's coming to LEGO Dimensions...

From J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World comes Warner Bros. Pictures' FANTASTIC BEASTS and WHERE TO FIND THEM, a new adventure that takes place in New York City, 70 years prior to Harry Potter reading the book of Newt Scamander while attending Hogwarts. Set for release on November 18, 2016, the first proper teaser trailer for David Yates' new film has arrived. Check it out below...

"When a mysterious and powerful vortex suddenly appears in various LEGO worlds, different characters from DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings and The LEGO Movie are swept away. To save their friends, Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle bravely jump into the vortex and quickly find themselves fighting to save all of LEGO humanity."

That's the basic gist of LEGO DIMENSIONS (out September 27), a new offering from LEGO and Warner Bros. that brings a brick-based spin on the toys-meet-games genre that was pioneered by SKYLANDERS and expanded upon by DISNEY INFINITY. Today's official announcement of LEGO Dimensions ends days of speculation fueled by LEGO's #BreakTheRules social media campaign that had fans guessing... and in many cases, going down the wrong rabbit hole. Check out the teaser starring COMMUNITY's Joel McHale...

TeeFuryWhat do PREDATOR, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, THE WALKING DEAD, Slimer from GHOSTBUSTERS, THE EVIL DEAD, the Minions of DESPICABLE ME, Jack Skellington from THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, Freddy Krueger from A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, Pennywise the Dancing Clown from Stephen King's IT, the Death Eaters from HARRY POTTER, the guys from SHAUN OF THE DEAD, and The Headless Horseman of SLEEPY HOLLOW have in common? Well, aside from all being pretty cool on their own, all of these icons of the spooky season have become the subjects of limited-edition pop culture mashups from my friends at TeeFury. For a limited time (through 10/17/2014) TeeFury is offering these spook-tacular t-shirts for men, women and children for just $15 each as The Halloween Collection.

Strange things can happen when you're just minding your own business and trying to do a little "toyography" - hoping to create some stylish pictures of my children's toys. Last night, while the girls and I were playing downstairs, I decided to attempt a couple of cool-looking shots involving a couple of figures from Hasbro's STAR WARS collection - namely C-3PO and R2-D2. What happened next is that one of our dogs - the one named Harry Potter (my wife is a big J.K. Rowling fan) - decided it was time to drop himself right into the shot, rolling into frame (seen above) and standing to attention (seen below). He either ruined the shot, or made it better. Perhaps these really ARE the Droids he was looking for... or perhaps The Force was strong with him? Take a look, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...
