Every time I think that the micro-collectibles bubble is about to burst, something comes along that reinforces the fact that there's no sign of that happening. In fact, the market is evolving and kids can't get enough of these small little toys. Evolution brings us to the launch of Cake Pop Cuties, a new line from Basic Fun that checks the boxes on several current trends, combining the brightly-colored blind box appeal of toys like L.O.L. Surprise with the strange appeal of the slow-rise squishes movement into a tiny little package that's appropriately shaped like... a cake pop. Available soon at most major retailers (Amazon is taking pre-orders), Cake Pop Cuties is backed by a CGI-animated webseries and boasts over 36 different Cuties and Sweeties to collect in the first wave. Funko POP! Vinyls have become an incredible phenomenon in recent years, allowing kids and collectors to amass huge collections of their favorite pop culture characters. For those who want something smaller, the Pocket Pops! have been a great option, and one that's recently spun off into the keychain realm. In reality, these collectible, tradeable miniatures are simply Pocket Pops! with a keychain screwed into the top, so you can easily unscrew the keychain to play with the figures by themselves. My friends at Entertainment Earth recently sent us an entire factory-fresh display case of the new Funko Disney Series 1 Pocket Pop! Keychains, so Finley and I entered The Toy Testing Facility at Rock Father HQ to tackle these blind bags head-on in an episode of UNBOXED! Check out our full unboxing video below for your first look at this awesome new assortment...

Can you become the biggest snake? That's the question posited by the massively-popular mobile game, Slither.io. With over 150 million downloads, and over 120 million plays per day, Slither.io has been consistently been Google Play's #1 free game, and now it's making the jump to toys. Revealed this month at Toy Fair 2017 in New York, Bonkers Toys is bringing Slither.io to life as a line of blind bag collectibles, and later, plush. While we're not at Toy Fair in-person, some of the first samples of the Slither.io blind bags made their way to Rock Father HQ in Illinois, and The Rock Daughters™ (already familiar with the game) were more than happy to crack into four of them. Last week, once again filling the space between big sister heading off to school and me having to take the little one to Pre-K, Finley decided that she wanted to do some blind bags. Our friends at Just Play had sent over a full box of their PEANUTS Series 1 Collectible Mini-Figures, so the temptation was there. With 12 figures in all, PLUS the "Rare Snoopy" (complete with dog bowl in his mouth), it was time to crack the box and see exactly what we got. Check out the video below!

The "micro collectible" trend continues to grow of late with numerous new entries into a realm dominated by Shopkins. One of the latest entrants is Splashlings - "An Ocean Full of Friends" - a new line from Australian toymaker TPF Toys, available in the U.S. as a Toys "R" Us Exclusive. With over 100 seas-dwelling friends to collect, the folks at TPF sent one of their starter packs, along with five blind bags here to Rock Father HQ for review, and The Rock Daughters™ and I took to Facebook Live for a "Live Unboxing" (in this case, an unbagging). Now, despite the fact that our kids - and many friends and readers of this site - love the blind bags, capsules and boxes... I'm "Old Crankypants" since we tend to get so many duplicates. How did this assortment work out? Check out the video below!

Within the past couple of years, the "blind" toy craze has been picking up steam. From blind bags and blind boxes, to mystery eggs, surprise eggs and now capsules, there's something for just about interest, and the latest toymaker to get in on the action is ZURU Toys. With licenses from Disney, the first ones to hit retail were the Disney FROZEN Capsules back in January, and the next batch that's shipping now are based some heavy-hitters from MARVEL - Ultimate Spider-man and Avengers Assemble. This is the first time I've ever received a shipment of toys direct from the factory in China, so I actually had to go to FedEx to pick them up - their arrival being a complete mystery to me as well (I had no idea they were coming). What was inside? Let's take a look at the MARVEL Capsules Assortment...
