Nancy B's Science Club Celebrates S.T.E.M. with a New Music Video...

As we roll toward the holidays, the S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) category will once again be one of the hottest, and this month Educational Insights celebrates five years of empowering young girls to embrace their passion for science through their Nancy B's Science Club line of S.T.E.M. toys. Launched via Facebook, a new music video champions "all of the smart, cool, curious, science-loving girls out there." Check it out below...

"The Nancy B's Science Club line was inspired by one of our own team member's childhood desire to have a microscope that she could proudly display in her bedroom," said Lisa Guili, General Manager of Educational Insights. "We looked around and found that even many years later, there still wasn't a line of truly relatable science tools for girls that also provided them with a robust assortment of exploration and discovery possibilities."

That team member was teacher and scientist, Nancy Balter, who recognized the opportunity to leverage the toy industry to empower girls to love science. She worked with Educational Insights to develop and release products for girls ages 8-12, including the best-selling MoonScope™, AquaScope™, chemistry sets, and more. The products include colorful activity journals packed with activities, experiments and discovery inspiration.

"It's been rewarding to hear from girls around the world who report that this line has been instrumental in growing their love of science," said Balter, who holds a biology degree from Yale University. "I'm thrilled to know that my own childhood dreams are now influencing and inspiring futures for young girls—many of whom might one day end up in science-related fields."

James Zahn

He's appeared as a music expert on CNN's AC360 alongside Anderson Cooper, and has been interviewed by Larry King. In the past he served as a writer for  Fandango Family and PBS KIDS, penned articles for Sprout and PopSugar, and was a contributor to Chicago Parent.
