With the Halloween season being among my favorite events of the year, I'm always on the lookout for some new toys that bring some creepy fun back into playtime. This year, one new offering is the Fright Factory 3D Creature Creator from Tech 4 Kids, a set that feels both like a toy and a craft, allowing kids to be their own "Dr. Frankenstein" as they turn "EwwGoo" into three-dimensional creations.

EwwGoo

Sent to us for review in the Toy Testing Facility at Rock Father HQ™,  the Creature Creator really taps into a few things that are popular right now beyond the monster-goodness, hitting on maker culture and the growing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) movement, along with kids' curiosity about 3D printing - all things that completely appeal to our 7-year-old daughter (a little girl that feels quite comfortable in a lab coat and goggles).

After kids inject their molds with colorful EwwGoo, they place them onto the Fright Factory stage and begin turning the hand-crank, moving a row of ultraviolet lights back and forth for several minutes. Powered by AA batteries, there is no heat, so no worries about kids getting hurt - the EwwGoo cures (hardens) simply thanks to the magic (science) of light!

The end result is a batch of cool critters that kids will love playing with. When the materials run out, refill packs of EwwGoo are available, as are new theme packs like “Gross Bugs,” “Creepy Creatures” and my personal favorite, “Beyond the Grave.” Rock Father-approved!
