One of our favorite product lines is getting bigger. Her Universe has long-been a go-to destination for cool Star Wars gear for women and girls, getting started at a time when availability of fan-centric clothing wasn't as widespread as it is now. Disney made the announcement today that the collaboration with Her Universe and founder Ashley Eckstein will "expand beyond the existing licensed lines of Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars apparel, accessories, and home goods and opens up new categories and opportunities including a new, heroic character-inspired athleisure line for kids and tweens.
I've been trying to stress this for years, but now is the last time I'm going to say it: If you are a fan of the STAR WARS films that's been hungry for more, yet doesn't typically venture into the expansive world that Lucasfilm has long-explored in comics, books, games and more, you need to be watching STAR WARS REBELS. As the series heads toward its conclusion with the last run of episodes, now is the time to catch-up on the four-season series to see how it all wraps up. Set in the years prior to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Rebels is a fitting example of a Star Wars tale that can introduce new characters into the timeline established by the feature films, while showcasing new adventures in new corners of the galaxy that have previously remained unexplored. This spirited adventure is very much in-line with where I personally hope that Rian Johnson will take his currently-in-development New Trilogy. I've generally stayed away from posting "leaks" of any kind here on The Rock Father™ Magazine, but as we approach the release of what will be the fourth Star Wars film of the new era, it's time to say something about how the merchandising is being handled for my favorite franchise. Starting with the 2015 release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, new Star Wars merchandise has been unleashed during a promotional blitz that's been a street-dated affair. Force Friday was followed by Rogue Friday for the 2016 release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which was followed by Force Friday II ahead of 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Now, we're staring down the May 2018 release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, and all signs are pointing toward a spring launch event for the tie-in gear. Now comes the first problem with this strategy...
During Game 7 of the 2017 World Series, fans watching the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the Houston Astros were momentarily interrupted for a quick trip to a galaxy far, far away. In a new TV spot entitled "Awake," fans got a fresh look at new footage from STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, including Luke Skywalker's long-awaited return to the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon, a nice look at the throne room of Supreme Leader Snoke, and a rainy lightsaber exchange. If you're hoping to attend your first screening of STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI completely 100% unspoiled this December, director Rian Johnson feels that you should probably avoid watching the full trailer that just made it's long-awaited debut. Still, he admits that like most of us (myself included), he watches all the trailers. This is exactly the news I was hoping for. After re-launching STAR WARS with the start of a sequel trilogy that began with his 2015 film, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, J.J. Abrams is returning to close-out the trilogy. This morning it was announced by Lucasfilm that Abrams is on-board to write and direct the currently-untitled STAR WARS: EPISODE IX.
