I've been writing about The Bunny The Bear for ages - so long that some of the writings were lost on sites that pre-date this one, though my first mention of the band here as "The Rock Father" dates back to 2011. One thing that particularly resonates (and is always reinforced thanks to social media) is that TBTB frontman Matthew Tybor became a "Rock Father" himself at almost the same time that I did - his son and my oldest daughter being the same age. In those years there has been some personal struggle, and for Tybor, the situation has at points been more dire. Those life experiences have shaped the band's latest album, The Way We Rust, and the new single, "I Am Free," is a prime example. Check out the new video and some background below...

Well, this is a reminder out of nowhere. The folks at READING RAINBOW have been in touch a few times over the past few years, and every time I hear from them, I automatically end up getting the theme song to the iconic LeVar Burton family literature series stuck in my head. So why did it get stuck in my head this morning? No, it wasn't communique from READING RAINBOW at all, but an email from comedy metal band, PSYCHOSTICK. The band has just released a cover version of that earworm-inducing theme song, and you can hear it right here on THE ROCK FATHER, below.

VR636 TheBunnyTheBearIt only happens a couple of times a year (if that), but I absolutely love it when an album like this comes along. You see, if you don't count albums by musically schizophrenic artists such as MR. BUNGLE, DOG FASHION DISCO, TUB RING, IWRESTLEDABEARONCE, DR. ACULA, or MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE among the cherished titles within your collection of recorded audio, there's a good chance that you'll absolutely despise IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, the Victory Records debut from Buffalo, NY's THE BUNNY THE BEAR.
