I don't like when news hits my desk at 9pm on a Wednesday night... when I already have a game plan laid out for things to cover. But, when the news involves two Kindie Rock Superstars sucked into an animated world... cruising the land on motorcycles straight out of EASY RIDER... jamming some tunes as... toons, I'm ok with it. TODD McHATTON and MISTA COOKIE JAR have teamed-up for TODD AND COOKIE'S CATAPULT OF DESTINY, "a mystical, magical, rock & roll adventure for the whole family," that will unfold as songs, cartoons, and webcomics every three months, beginning on September 24. Check out a preview...

I was lucky to see NIRVANA on their IN UTERO Tour when it came through Davenport, Iowa on October 22, 1993. I also remember catching their famed LIVE AND LOUD performance when it initially aired on MTV in an amended, New Year's Eve presentation, and being bummed to learn that what they presented was not even half of the full show. Now, 20 years later, that LIVE AND LOUD performance will be seen in it's entirety when it arrives on DVD next Tuesday (pre-order via Walmart), alongside a massive IN UTERO reissue collection (full details posted here). Get a taste with NIRVANA's performances of "Scentless Apprentice" (one of my favorites) and "Heart-Shaped Box" below....

I took three years of French in high school. It was completely impractical, and I should've taken Spanish instead. But, the influence of France is felt by me daily. My Paris-obsessed wife also took three years of French, and we now have various French artifacts placed in strategic locations throughout our home, but that's not the biggie. Both of our daughters' middle names are taken from French impressionist painters - Monet and Renoir. That said, I recently started dabbling with Little Pim's French language set, which makes for a conversational segue into this - DidiPop's new music video of her song "Merci." She just released the video yesterday, and the song is now available as a FREE DOWNLOAD. Check out both below...

It's always a fine day when Seattle Kindie Rockers THE NOT-ITS! serve-up something new. A fine day, because I get to remind you that they're the guilty parties behind one of my favorite albums of 2013, KidQuake!, which I reviewed here on The Rock Father way back in February. Yes, these members of "The Kindiependent Collective" (which includes Recess Monkey, Caspar Babypants, Johnny Bregar, The Board of Education, and The Harmonica Pocket) are a favorite around these parts, and now they've got a new video out for "Rock, Paper, Scissors" - one that I'm sharing with you tonight. Added Bonus: Frontwoman Sarah Shannon is gonna teach you how to do the dance... complete with the universal hand signal for ROCK: \m/ \m/
