Blue ShirtFlorida Kindie Rocker MR. HARLEY has just released his first-ever music video, "These Rhyming Friends of Mine." The song comes from his album, BLUE SHIRT (Amazon | iTunes), and is a part of his "New Music Monday" Series. Every fourth Monday of the month, Mr. Harley will be releasing a brand new song, but for June it's a music video - filmed on-location by students of Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

Check it out below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

Review: KIDZ BOP PARTY POP!

If you think that I've crossed over to The Dark Side, you may be correct... or just completely mistaken, as I've probably been riding shotgun with Vader for more than thirty years at this point. You see, there's KIDZ BOP - a Global phenomenon that I was 100% against for the longest time... or was I? Then it really hit me that KIDZ BOP is no different than the KIDS INCORPORATED record I spun for a good portion of my own childhood, one that was spun-off of a television series as an extension of it's own "brand." With its kid-friendly cover versions of Top 40 hits, and being the number one music brand for kids, KIDZ BOP does have a place here on THE ROCK FATHER... and the latest edition, KIDZ BOP PARTY POP!, was released earlier this month as a sonic aperitif to the forthcoming KIDZ BOP 26 (out July 15 via Razor & Tie).

STORY LAURIE always hits me with things that could easily be filed under both "Family Music" and "Gardening" here on THE ROCK FATHER, as the New York-based Kindie artist has a habit of combining the two. For today, though, I'll put this one in the music category, as she's serving up a FREE DOWNLOAD of her new song, "Who Grew My Soup?" It's all in celebration of Earth Day (April 22) and the upcoming Farm to Cafeteria Conference (April 16-18, Austin, TX) at which Laurie will be a featured presenter- working with conference-goers to write a song on-the-fly. Stream or Download the song below...

Watch: DOG ON FLEAS - "I Must Be A Genius"

Next Tuesday, prolific kindie producer/multi-instrumentalist DEAN JONES and his band DOG ON FLEAS will release their latest album, BUY ONE GET ONE FLEA (pre-order on Amazon). The new record serves up 14 new tracks, with Jones and the gang stripping things back to basics, so much that he promises "the only electric things on this album are the bass guitar, and a wicked theremin solo." For an early taste, today comes the debut of "I Must Be A Genius," the first video spawned from the new album. Check out the new clip below...

I arrived during the end of the Disco era, yet somehow MECO managed to impact my young, STAR WARS-loving mind during the late 1970s, and somehow, even in 2014, I will admit listening to "Cerrone's Paradise" (the full, 16-minute version) in it's entirety if I happen to catch it on SiriusXM's "Studio 54" channel... which I listen to on occasion between Liquid Metal, Backspin, Outlaw Country and Kid's Place Live. So what if someone wrote a disco song two decades too late, and then waited another decade plus to release it? Kindie artist MR. HARLEY just may have the answer, with the release of his new single, "I Wrote A Disco Tune (20 Years Too Late)." Listen below...
