MARVEL Studios and Sony Pictures will release Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7, and ahead of the movie comes the toys. This week, Hasbro revealed a sneak-preview of what they'll be rolling out this spring, serving up a refreshed line of action figures, vehicles and playsets in support of the film. From this initial preview, the Spidey stuff looks a lot more appealing than the last few lines, with the 6" action figures sporting a movie look, the "Spidey Racer" vehicle including a NERF dart feature (akin to recent Star Wars vehicles), and some pretty cool playsets.

It's still weird to me what a big deal "emojis" have become, and as I mentioned in my recent feature on the Emojiez toys (read it here), a big-screen emoji adventure (unrelated to the aforementioned toys) is on the way. Today, Sony Pictures Animation announced that Emmy and Tony award winner James Corden (Into the Woods) and Emmy nominee Ilana Glazer (Broad City) will be joining the previously announced T.J. Miller (Deadpool) to lead the cast of summer 2017's animated comedy EMOJIMOVIE: EXPRESS YOURSELF. Along with the casting announcement comes a first-look photo of the first four characters to be revealed - Jailbreak, Gene, Hi-5 and Poop Daddy. Check it out...

"A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Marvel Studios' CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING" - That's the early synopsis given for the first SPIDER-MAN film to officially be a part of the MARVEL Cinematic Universe in a collaboration between MARVEL Studios and SONY.  Tonight at San Diego Comic-Con, the film's villain was revealed to be The Vulture, with concept art posted by the team at MARVEL.com. Additionally, some additional credits confirm that Tony Stark (if not Iron Man) will be making an appearance when the film swings into theaters on July 7, 2017.

Review - GHOSTBUSTERS: ANSWER THE CALL

Note: The formal conclusion of #GhostbustersWeek here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine, this review comes in late thanks to an unscheduled server switch. This review does contain SPOILERS...

On Friday night, fresh back from a quick, yet eventful trip to New York City for Blogger Bash '16, I found myself back in Illinois for a long-scheduled date night with my wife. The entertainment - Paul Feig's GHOSTBUSTERS: ANSWER THE CALL (which I'm told is actually the film's official, full title, despite simply "Ghostbusters" being just fine). We bought our tickets a good week in advance, complete with dinner delivered to our seats at the local Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime - a truly fantastic way to enjoy any film, though particularly one as special effects-heavy as this one. Like so many others, we settled in to find out for ourselves what the outcome would be of the much talked-about and debated relaunch of one of the most beloved franchises from our own youth. It's a touchy spot when you have a film that's not purely a remake, nor a sequel - but something that needs to honor the past while opening the doors wide for the future, and that's GHOSTBUSTERS.

#GhostbustersWeek concludes on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine...

If Ray Stantz wasn't a great Ghostbustin' scientist, he could've had a fine career in automotive restoration. After all, he did a great job transforming a 1959 Miller-Meteor Cadillac Ambulance into the legendary Ecto-1! In celebration of Ray's restorative endeavors comes this shirt from TeeFury: Ray's Repairs & Resoration - "Bringing Wrecks Back from the Dead Since 1984!"

#GhostbustersWeek rolls on with one of the most interesting collectibles...

Who could've predicted that nesting dolls would become such a craze? Perhaps the Russians circa 1890, but over the past couple of years, pop culture-themed nesting dolls have become sought-after collectibles, and one company leading the charge is PPW Toys. Earlier this week we took a look at their GHOSTBUSTERS Classics PopTaters, but today we take a look at something new that they sent us for review - their GHOSTBUSTERS Nesting Dolls - a set that features all four original Ghostbusters - Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, Winston Zeddemore and Ray Stantz, along with The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and Slimer!
