THE ROCK FATHER - Holiday 2014For some it's A CHRISTMAS STORY. For others, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE or WHITE CHRISTMAS. For me, the undisputed greatest Holiday film of all-time is the 1996 Christmas classic, JINGLE ALL THE WAY - a film that I've mentioned in nearly 30 articles on this site alone.  The reasons behind my affection for the film are many (a "perfect storm" of elements), so when the news arrived that Twentieth Century Fox and WWE Studios were going into production on a belated sequel, I covered the announcement with cautious optimism. For me, the thought of a JINGLE ALL THE WAY 2 was akin to messing with the legacy of what I'd argue to be the CITIZEN KANE of Christmas films, so when the out-of-nowhere opportunity to visit the Vancouver set came along, I couldn't pass it up. In March, I found myself standing alongside Larry the Cable Guy, WWE Superstar Santino Marella and director Alex Zamm (THE LITTLE RASCALS SAVE THE DAY) on the set of JINGLE ALL THE WAY 2. Thousands of miles from Rock Father HQ, I was back inside a world of movie magic that I'd been missing - a member of the FHE Insiders crew.

This Tuesday, August 19, Brooklyn kindie stars THE POP UPS will release APPETITE FOR CONSTRUCTION (pre-order: Amazon | iTunes), their third full-length effort, and the follow-up to 2012's excellent, GRAMMY-nominated RADIO JUNGLE (reviewed here). To mark the impending release, THE POP UPS have partnered with THE ROCK FATHER to debut "Block House" as part of their #10Songs10Days promotion. With a deliciously-80s synth-pop groove, "Block House" is a celebration of building a mighty tower of alphabet blocks - a time-honored tradition for kids everywhere. The third track on the album itself, "Block House" fits perfectly into a collection of songs that are "dedicated to the simple joy of making things with family and friends." Stream it below...

June 15, 2014 is Father's Day this year, and for me, the date holds special significance well beyond just being the annual celebration of Fatherhood. June 15 will mark the second birthday of my youngest daughter, Finley, and also mark the "official" entry into Year Four for THE ROCK FATHER™ as a website. Of course, it was back in 2009 - nearly five years ago - that I effectively became "The Rock Father" upon the birth of my first daughter, Adalyn. A lot has changed since then - including the scope of this site... but what about those other "Rock Fathers?"
