For the Honor of Grayskull! A new generation will soon experience a reimagined take on the She-Ra legend when the savior of Etheria returns in DreamWorks She-Ra and The Princesses of Power!  The new animated series brings to life "a story of magic, friendship, loyalty, and an epic battle for peace." Inspired the classic Filmation animated series of the 80s (a spin-off from Mattel's iconic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), it tells "the story of an orphan named Adora, who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde when she discovers a magic sword that transforms her into the mythical warrior princess, She-Ra." Today comes our first official teaser trailer from the new series. Check it out below!

The business of play is a fascinating subject, with the real-life stories behind some of our favorite toys sometimes rivaling the fictional worlds that they spawned. The Netflix Original Series The Toys That Made Us feeds that interest, and for those awaiting more episodes (season 3 is being filmed right now) there's a new documentary that's an absolute must-watch. Power of Grayskull: The Definitive History of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is now streaming on Netflix, and as the title implies - it's an in-depth look at Mattel's iconic franchise from its origins in the early 80s through nearly four decades of highs and lows. Check out the trailer below...

It was two years ago that I first told you about Robozuna - a then-in-development series from ITV that had been added to the Netflix slate of original kids and family programming. While the premiere date has still not been announced (Netflix still lists it as "New: 2018"), we know that there's a full range of toys coming, and they'll be arriving in the U.S. via Basic Fun! The initial wave arrives in spring/summer 2019, with more consumer products in the pipeline for fall/winter.

As I type this, Comic-Con International (SDCC) is currently underway in San Diego with the biggest names in pop culture coming together for their annual gathering.  On the toy front, the exclusives are many, and Hasbro has some stellar offerings - a few of which they sent to me for early review here at Rock Father™ HQ. One of the biggest and most-anticipated is the MARVEL LEGENDS SERIES DEFENDERS RAIL AUTHORITY 5-PACK. This set brings together five characters from Marvel Studios' Netflix Original Series, The Defenders, each presented in super-articulated 6" format. Packaged in a box that's made to look like a NYC subway car, this thing is a sight to behold with JESSICA JONES, LUKE CAGE, DAREDEVIL, IRON FIST, and COLLEEN WING all ready to defend the residents of Hell's Kitchen and beyond!

For a series than began as a Frankenstein'd story crafted by combining several Japanese series' from Toei Animation, Voltron has certainly come a long way in the past 34 years. Already popular in Japan, Beast King GoLion is what most Americans would come to recognize as Voltron: Defender of the Universe, while the Armored Fleet Dairugger XV  became the second iteration of Voltron to hit the 'States, though a vehicular version that's oft-forgotten in favor of the lion-based counterparts. Since the launch of the Netflix Original Series, DreamWorks' Voltron: Legendary Defender in 2016, renewed interest in the character and it's past (fueled largely by the reissued Voltron '84) has led to it becoming a staple of Comic-Con. For this year's Comic-Con International in San Diego, there's a huge amount of Voltron goodness coming into play - you could even say that it's an unusually large amount this year, packed with reveals and SDCC exclusives. It started with Playmates Toys' Voltron: Legendary Defender Hyperphase Voltron that Entertainment Earth will be selling, but now there's so much more...
