As my closet (and wife) can attest to, I'm always on the lookout for interesting pop culture t-shirts, particularly those of the mash-up variety. Last night, one came across that's been out for awhile, but it's new to me, particularly since I've recently become a fan of Hamilton: An American Musical. My wife has been a massive fan for a few years now, but I didn't catch the bug until I we won the Hamilton ticket lottery and scored a pair of second-row seats for just $20(!) to see the show in Chicago last month. "My Shot" is an infectious groove, but like Alexander Hamilton, you know who else didn't want to throw away his shot? Greedo. Yes, the Rodian bounty hunter that met his end at the blaster of Han Solo in the Mos Eisley Cantina. Not familiar with Star Wars: A New Hope? You better start paying attention - this is what I found on TeePublic...

Two things I really love: STAR WARS and ENTOURAGE. Both have new movies in theaters later this year, and today comes a potentially-viral clip from the folks at Quiznos (yes, those purveyors of tasty subs that massively over-expanded in the Chicago market, and all but disappeared following the "Great Recession" and prior to their 2014 bankruptcy - I know too much about this stuff). The new short from Windowseat recalls a time when STAR WARS mashups were just coming into their own with "fan films" like AMERICAN JEDI or TROOPS. Check out STARTOURAGE: THE FOURSOME AWAKENS below, and let me know - does it make you want a sub? Toasty...

When it comes to mashups, Austria's DJ SCHMOLLI is one of the best in the game, and as such I've written about his work on a few sites over the years (here's one of my favorites). This week, Schmolli places JAMES BROWN vs. MARK RONSON and BRUNO MARS for "American Uptown Funk," a mashup of the recent hit "Uptown Funk" and the 1985 classic, "Living in America" (ROCKY IV!). While the video was quickly up-and-down over at YouTube, Vimeo has a fresh version that you need to watch...

TeeFuryWhat do PREDATOR, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, THE WALKING DEAD, Slimer from GHOSTBUSTERS, THE EVIL DEAD, the Minions of DESPICABLE ME, Jack Skellington from THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, Freddy Krueger from A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, Pennywise the Dancing Clown from Stephen King's IT, the Death Eaters from HARRY POTTER, the guys from SHAUN OF THE DEAD, and The Headless Horseman of SLEEPY HOLLOW have in common? Well, aside from all being pretty cool on their own, all of these icons of the spooky season have become the subjects of limited-edition pop culture mashups from my friends at TeeFury.
