A Special Promotion from 4DX and THE ROCK FATHER Magazine open to residents of Illinois, Wisconsin, New York and the Los Angeles areas only.
If you have't seen a movie in 4DX yet, you're in for quite an experience when you finally do... an experience currently available at just two locations in the United States, and by the end of this week, a third. Located directly between Chicago and Milwaukee, the Marcus Gurnee Cinema at Gurnee Mills welcomes moviegoers into a fully-immersive experience, one also enjoyed on the West Coast at Regal Cinemas L.A. Live, and soon on the East Coast at the Regal Union Square Stadium 14 (open March 25). Showing this week in 4DX is THE DIVERGENT SERIES: ALLEGIANT, and the folks at 4DX have teamed-up with THE ROCK FATHER once again for a special prize pack giveaway... but this one is a little bit different! With just two days left to catch the film in 4DX prior to it being swept away by BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, we're giving readers a chance to win a pack that includes 1 Allegiant shirt, 1 Allegiant lunchbox, 1 Allegiant tattoo sticker and a pair of 4DX vouchers good for a future 4DX film. I'm telling you something right now: Disney's ZOOTOPIA is about to be HUGE. Over the past few months, I've been fairly ZOOTOPIA-immersed (they made me an official resident), having once again paid a visit to Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank where I met with Directors Byron Howard (BOLT, TANGLED) and Rich Moore (WRECK-IT RALPH), along with Producer Clark Spencer (WINNIE THE POOH) and much of the key creative team for an inside look at the studio's 55th feature-length animated film. Last week, my wife and I also treated The Rock Daughters to an early screening of the film, and in the days that followed, something remarkable happened... they declared it "Better than FROZEN," with our oldest deeming it her "favorite film so-far," and already noting that when she does her back-to-school chalkboard in the Fall, ZOOTOPIA will replace FROZEN as her film of choice. The kids have spoken, and that's all I need. While ZOOTOPIA by itself is a very special film (and one I will review in detail later), in Chicago's far North Suburbs, just minutes from Rock Father HQ is a very special place to see it - the Marcus Gurnee Cinema at Gurnee Mills. This theatre is home to one of just two 4DX theaters in the United States (the other is in L.A.), and to celebrate a one-week special engagement of ZOOTOPIA 4DX, the folks at CJ 4DX have teamed-up with THE ROCK FATHER Magazine for a very special Prize Pack Giveaway. The trick is, this one is limited to readers in Illinois and Wisconsin... folks within the region of the Marcus Gurnee Cinema and their 4DX screen! Learn about 4DX and enter to win below!
The eve is finally upon us. Tomorrow, after years of work, and a rollercoaster ride of ups-and-downs, PRODUCT OF HATE will release their debut album, BURIED IN VIOLENCE (iTunes | Amazon) . If you're just joining us here at THE ROCK FATHER Magazine, what you might not know is that this is not just another band I happen to be covering - they're my friends, and I've been with them for the long haul, serving as ½ of their management team, and being their music video director and editor since 2010. There's been an incredible team working with us behind-the-scenes to launch their Napalm Records debut, and this past month has been exciting. The new video for "Monster" is out - the song is in rotation on SiriusXM Liquid Metal, and it hit #10 on the iTunes Metal Hot Tracks Chart. Yesterday we got word that BURIED IN VIOLENCE was the #3 Most-Added Record for the week on the CMJ Radio Charts, and songs are starting to receieve play on a Global level. While that's all fantastic, there is much work to be done for this still-relatively unknown band, and tomorrow what really counts will take place - the album will be out, and audiences will be able to experience it and have their say. Now, if you'd like an early taste, you can stream the album in its entirety via the Napalm Records webstore! Click here to listen, and if you dig it, pick up the album on CD or Vinyl, or snag a killer bundle pack!
For my local friends in Lake County, Illinois - mark your calendars, because the WTTW Readers are Leaders Tour is returning to Gurnee Mills. On Saturday, September 6, kids and grownups alike can spend the morning singing, dancing and enjoying story time with a live performance from Miss Lori's CAMPUS and a special appearance by ARTHUR. This FREE event starts at 10:30am at the Lake County Food Court in the Macy's full-priced wing. The first 200 children in attendance will receive a free children’s book.
When I last checked-in from our Back-to-School shopping adventure at Gurnee Mills, there was one store left that I wanted to hit - one that's been a staple of my seasonal fashion coverage for kids for over a year now, RUUM American Kid's Wear. What's become crystal clear over the past year is that we have one very fickle young fashionista in five-year-old Addie, who will quickly accept or reject an outfit or item (even ones that Daddy and Mommy really like), but 2-year-old Finley is a little more easy-going, at least for now. With new Fall collections (including Modern Rocker, Woodland and Back to School) in-stores and online at RUUM.com, the folks at RUUM invited us into their store to grab a few more outfits for the girls, and with $100 in Gift Cards and some additional cash from The Rock Father, here's what went down...
I keep saying it, but I still can't believe we have a kindergartner here this year. Essentially, if you've been reading THE ROCK FATHER for awhile, you've seen Addie growing up, and while last year we were shopping for Pre-K, this year it's officially time for Back-to-School in preparation for "big girl" school - kindergarten. Gurnee Mills here in Lake County has always been a regular haunt for us, and this year we've teamed-up to show off some of the great fashions and supplies available at the largest value and outlet destination in Illinois (which is in the midst of a remodel and now boasts a fantastic "full-price" wing), by sharing our own Back-to-School shopping experience. This past week, my wife and I took the two girls (Little Finn is in on the action, too) to get decked out for Fall...
