It's been two years since Disneynature's last theatrical release hit screens, the fantastic Monkey Kingdom. Attached to that film was an early teaser for what would be the next film from the studio, Born in China. Due to taking a year off from the Earth Day schedule, another teaser followed in 2016, and now comes the anticipated release of a film that my daughters have been asking for since they saw that first teaser two Aprils ago. While in San Francisco for the #Cars3Event last month, I had a chance to check out an early screening of Born in China, a film that is about to take audiences to some of the world's most beautiful and remote locales.
Disney Junior and Disneynature present the short-form series "It's UnBungalievable," an extension of "The Lion Guard," premiering SATURDAY, JANUARY 9 (9:52 a.m. EST). Hosted by "The Lion Guard's" animated characters Bunga the honey badger and Ono the egret, "It's UnBungalievable" is a nature show offering fun facts about animals and their habitats. Each episode features live-action wildlife footage from Disneynature and highlights two animals, chosen by Bunga and Ono, to compete in various categories such as "Who's Quicker?," "Who Has Better Hair?" and "Who's Hungrier?" Check out the first episode below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine...
Disneynature's documentary films have become somewhat of an annual tradition over the past few years, a new one arriving each Spring, just in-time for Earth Day. Following the successes of AFRICAN CATS, CHIMPANZEE and BEARS (review here) comes this year's entry, MONKEY KINGDOM. Beautifully-shot (as expected) under the direction of Disneynature series vets Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield, 30 ROCK's Tina Fey provides the narration for this time around.
On September 15, Disneynature, the studio that brought you Chimpanzee and Bears, will release MONKEY KINGDOM on Blu-ray Combo Pack (pre-order now), DVD and Disney Movies Anywhere. Narrated by Tina Fey, this spectacular tale is set among ancient ruins in the storied jungles of South Asia. Maya, a clever and resourceful monkey, finds her world forever changed when she welcomes her son Kip into her colorful extended family. As Maya strives to keep Kip safe through unexpected and sometimes perilous adventures, amazing footage captures all the magic and surprises of their magnificent world. For every Digital and Blu-ray Combo Pack sold during first-week sales, Disneynature will make a donation to Conservation International in your honor to help protect endangered species in their natural habitat, supporting conservation project across Indonesia, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka.
On September 15, DisneyNature MONKEY KINGDOM comes home on Disney Movies Anywhere, Digital HD and Blu-ray Combo Pack. An Earth Day hit this past April, MONKEY KINGDOM brings home some news as well - huge accomplishments to the conservation program that viewers support with their embrace of these films.
