I've said it before, and I find myself saying it again, if only for the new friends that are just finding THE ROCK FATHER and have no knowledge of my past: In a lot of ways, my teen years were like an early-1990s version of ALMOST FAMOUS. But, instead of it being Cameron Crowe hanging with LED ZEPPELIN and THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND and writing about the experience for ROLLING STONE, it was me hanging with bands like FAITH NO MORE and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and writing about the experience for regional print 'zines like Oil, Slowfish, and The River Cities' Reader. Thing is, I also had a cable access show. The simply-titled "ZTV" ran for 40+ episodes from it's homebase in the Quad Cities from 1992-1994. One such adventure? A 16-year-old me going one-on-one with Dave Mustaine of MEGADETH in January of 1993. Yes, I had a mullet and a Vic Rattlehead shirt. And it was awesome.

As of today, there are only 69 days until Christmas. Yes, the Holiday Season is almost upon us, and the folks at Disney have just hit The Rock Father with details on some classic titles that will be released on Blu-ray for the very first time, each perfect for gifting or family viewing. This month, Shout! Factory in association with Hasbro Studios released TRANSFORMERS PRIME: PREDACONS RISING, a 90-minute epilogue to the recently-concluded, TRANSFORMERS PRIME. BUMBLE BEE got his voice back... MEGATRON raised an undead army (seasonally-appropriate for Halloween!)... and for the rest, you'll just have to watch. Luckily for you, my friends at Shout! Factory and Hasbro have teamed up with The Rock Father to get three readers hooked-up with some sweet prizes. So which side are you on? AUTOBOT... DECEPTICON... or PREDACON?

Halloween Specials have been a highlight of the Fall television season for as long as I can remember. I think this year has been light on that note, but the folks at DreamWorks Animation have two new titles out this Fall that feature some familiar characters with some new adventures. To celebrate the release of MONSTERS VS. ALIENS: CLONING AROUND and KUNG-FU PANDA: SCORPION STING, DreamWorks and The Rock Father are getting one lucky reader hooked up with DVDs of each, while sharing some thoughts on the Top DreamWorks characters for the season.

When Fall arrives, one of the first things we always look forward to is new Halloween specials and video releases. While 2013 feels like a really light year on that note, one new collection that's a must-have for little ones is THE HALLOWEEN COLLECTION: Volume 2, from the excellent, and ever-expanding Scholastic Storybook Treasures line from Weston Woods/Cinedigm/New Kideo. This 3-Disc DVD Box set features 14 classic tales ripe for the halloween season, and manages to encourage learning along with bringing the not-so-scary frights.
